If you've been on this site for any solid amount of time, and especially if you've read Mature rated fics, you've probably seen quite a few stories where Shining Armor... or Mr. Cake... or their respective spouses are having passionate affairs with other characters.
With Shining Armor (or sometimes Cadence), it's Twilight, and with Mr. (or Mrs.) Cake it's Pinkie Pie.
That doesn't really matter, though.
What does matter is that there's an alarming amount of wish fulfillment/clop on this site involving infidelity.
You might not have even consciously noticed it, but I bet your brain did.
Cheating tends to be portrayed in a... lighthearted way, to say the least.
A lot of the time it seems downright supported by the author, which is fucking weird to me.
Has anybody else noticed this?
I'm not sure what it says about us, either as writers or as readers or how we view relationships and sexuality, but I don't like the looks of it.
Kinda like that one clopfic I read that downright encouraged pedophilia...

I've noticed that too. Sadly, this isn't the only fandom that has "adulterous" content of erotica, fanart not withstanding. And it's also kinda weird that there's a lack of consensual polyarmory clopfics of any canonical couples, especially the odd lack of Shining Armor X Cadence X Twilight Sparkle clopfics that focuses on them.
Sexual fiction helps people get off to fetishes they may not partake in in real life. What's the problem there?

I haven't read any of the fics in the question so I can not say for certain.
2660635 That's probably because of the fact that most "herd" fics only do well if it uses a popular group of ships (a la SpikeCMC, Sparityjack, etc) to from the Herd in question, or it's a Xenophilia-based fic.
