Okay. So, as you might have noticed, Present Perfect, this guy, has been watching and viewing all the previous My Little Pony generations. ( Celestia save his soul.)
He just did Generation 3, in a very funny blog post.
And apparently, that's the root of all the ponies-in-socks-thing.
Seriously, one of the ponies sings a song called Nothing Says Christmas Like a Pair of Socks.
I just had to link to the song.

The video's actually tame as can be, it's just the thinking about it afterwards that's... weird.
