Straightforward review: Dawn of justice · 7:48pm Dec 6th, 2014
Chaos2012 here again to bring you a review of something you have all heard about for a long time.
MAN OF STEEL: DAWN OF JUSTICE!!!
huh?
Well, this isn't the kind of review that you wanted, but I had to get this out of my system. So I hope to have a real fanfiction review soon.
So, last year we were all introduced to the reboot of superman in the film Man of steel. While it did have some flaws in the story and felt like a bit too much destruction throughout.
Overall though, it was a very entertaining movie I thought. The effects of the film finally captured superman in what he could do and his powers. And while some complained about him, I really enjoyed the villain Zod.
He had the power and the anger you would think a general like him would have. Even though the final battle did draw out a bit, I felt that is really how two powerful Kryptonians would face off in a great battle like that.
Then the news we all heard was the sequel to it, which is the start of the justice league franchise. And when the news came out it would be the man of steel facing off against the Batman.
OH MY GOD!! When I heard that I was so ecstatic I couldn't stop smiling for twenty minutes. To finally see the two greatest DC characters face off is something I honestly thought would never happen. Then the cast of him was revealed to be Ben Affleck.
Now this one has gotten a lot of hate to which I don't understand. Sure Ben Affleck was a failure as Daredevil, but he was in a slump of flops during that time. Like uhhhh... This thing.
But in the last few years, he has shown his talent in the films The Town and Argo. I am actually on Ben's side with this one. I think he will be a great batman for the new films.
But then this is where the downfall comes in for us. Not only will Batman be coming into this franchise, but Alex Luther will be in it as well. Now this could be good if it's done well... But they had to show us who will be playing him.
Yes, the skinny nerd from zombieland, Jessie Eisenberg.
How in the literal hell does this kid fit the role of Lex Luther? Lex is a coorporate business man that pretty much owns the city. This kid looks like he should be serving you your sandwich at subway! To give this role to him is just insane to me. But... I'll be honest and never imagined Heath ledger would give perhaps the greatest joker performance in history, so maybe he can pull it off.
Not only that, but apparently there are going to be cameos by other superheroes in this film.
Superheroes. Plural.
Not one.
Not two.....
Three. Three superheroes.
Yes, Wonderwoman (played by the chick who died in fast and furious 6, spoiler for you people) cyborg (played by a kid who's never acted) and then aquaman.
But I gotta say... Aquaman is getting played by this guy.
Freakin khal drogo from game of thrones. Now I don't care if he isn't blonde like the normal aquaman. This guy is badass, so I'm rooting for this one.
So, in just the second movie of the DC film universe, we are not just getting a stand alone film for a new hero. Instead, we are simply gonna have the introductions of FOUR FREAKIN NEW HERO'S! While most are going to be cameos, it still feels way too rushed for this series.
That is the reason to why the marvel cinematic universe has been so successful. They gave each of the main heroes their own film allowing us to get to know their personalities and their internal struggles they were dealing with. It gave us time to see who they were and made us curious how they were all going to be together.
Can you imagine if Iron man 2 was the introduction for Captain America, Thor and The hulk all at once?
Yeah, you said it.
Well, now that we have shown just how many heroes are going to be in it, let's see the villain.
Oh, you thought Lex Luther was going to be a villain? Perhaps, but maybe not the main villain. We instead will be shown this freakin guy
Doomsday.
Doomsday! ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME!?
Is having batman fight superman not enough for this movie? Not only are you throwing in pretty much most of the justice league already, but now you put in Doomsday!?
Look, I'm not saying I don't like Doomsday, he would be an awesome villain to have in this film universe. My problem though... Is that he will be in this movie itself.
Doomsday is perhaps one of the strongest characters in the DC comic world, being in fact one of the only villains that actually defeats Superman. In terms of power, it feels like Doomsday would be a better villain for the first official justice league movie for them to fight. But nope, they are going to throw him in this film.
That is what seems like a problem in these DC films. We already had zod as the first villain, who is at Supermans strength already. Now we are already jumping into Doomsday. They are coming into these powerful villains too quickly. I mean there is still Darkseid and Brainiac if they ever had to go to another big villain, but still.
But we don't have a choice, so might as well hope for the best then.
That's my opinion. What's your, comment below and let me know.
I rarely ever pay attention to trailers and stuff anymore, but after these tidbits, I must say I'm surprised the folks working on the movie are gonna go this far in their latest production, especially with Doomsday; that's just overkill.
... Looks like a typical case of reaching too far before a crash and burn. I admit, Marvel isn't perfect, but hell ... if the movies that led up to the Avengers was any indication, they got something right! DC looks like they're throwing in everything to make or break it... but this ain't going to work well.. or it might work brilliantly.
