Post or not to post? I sooo want to post my first story I ever wrote. The alternate ending to Pegasus Device. I have three chapters done. I could probably end there, although that would leave a lot of questions as to what happened to most of the characters and the factory. I have been working on a fourth that goes into that. Problem is, I have hit a wall. I'm not sure of how to get from where it's at to where I want it to go. Not sure I want to post any of it until I have that figured out. Ugh.
On top of that, I have started two other stories. One is a TwiLuna ship (including a FlutterDash ship). Which, I really like writing. The other, I have just started and don't know it's final direction yet.
Of course, since my first story is doing SOOO well (insert sarcasm here), I might not post anything else. I might just read all of the great stories you guys put out there, and keep mine to myself.
Have a great week!
Have a great Thanksgiving!
And disregard my insecurities.
Yeah, I have a few stories myself that I haven't posted for fear of dislike.
My only advice, would be to write something really simple. Your fic ideas seem to be mostly different takes on other people's stories.
That can make users annoyed. I'm not nearly an experienced author on this site, and my stories are far from popular. But I have had very positive feedback -something for which I am grateful-, also I was in your shoes very recently.
So all I'd suggest is you write about something you aren't crazy for. For instance, I wrote about OctaScratch, my fourth favourite ship. And I wrote a very simple, and original plot. You don't seem to be a bad writer, judging by your posted fic. So if you do something short and simple, it will be hard for somepony to dislike.
At least, that's what I did.
Also, as dumb as it is, most people prefer past-tense writing to present-tense. I myself, prefer present-tense in both reading and writing, however, I forced myself to write in past-tense to avoid negative feedback.
I hope this helped. Good luck!
2612466 Thank you for the advice.
I literally started writing about two weeks before I joined this site (about 5 weeks ago). I liken my writing to a two year old in the kitchen banging on pots and pans with wooden spoons. To me, your writing, along with a few others, is like a cool breeze on a summers eve. I still have much to learn. I'm still trying to figure out show vs. tell and now past-tense and present-tense are something that I need to learn as well.
Twilight fights Dawnbringer was thrown together one morning before work. Then tweaked a little for a few nights. Those who read it before I posted are not writers, and they said they liked it. So, I posted it. Well, you see the result. A little disappointing.
Thank you again!
