On short updates, emotions, and future expectations. · 7:19pm Nov 17th, 2014
So, I just posted a short chapter to "The Abduction Of Luna".
I left this off of the last chapter because I had felt so emotionally drained after completing "Dark Thoughts".
Seriously, I have never before had such a feeling of being...empty.
I've written emotionally charged stuff before, and wiped away tears while doing so. But I did not feel the sensation of being so drained and discharged as I did with the end of "Dark Thoughts". I really expected to have no spark or inspiration to do anything else on this story for at least a week.
Then unexpectedly, two days later, I'm typing away again. Oh the joy! However, my excitement was tempered by the feeling that what I was writing should have been part of "Dark Thoughts".
Nuts.
It used to be that chapter divisions seemed to be obvious to me. I just knew when there was natural pause, or break in the story that would make a good place to say: take a break, we'll pick it up again after a moment. Now, it seems like I need to write a chapter ahead before posting. That way I won't run into this again. But holding back on posting is worse than trying to hold back headstrong horse that has chomped the bit. It also doesn't help that I usually have extended periods between my updates and I feel guilty to my readers and followers for taking so long. I do try to make sure that when I post, it is worth your time. As high quality as I can produce, and of sufficient length that you can reconnect with the characters. I hope that I have been striking a good balance.
Finally, I take this quick return to writing to (hopefully) be because of the exciting events on the near horizon! Yes, fans, friends, and followers, I think that updates will be quicker, longer, and exceeding your expectations.
Thank you, all who have favorited and/or upvoted The Abduction of Luna. Those are great encouragements for me. And especially to all of you who have taken the time to share your thoughts, either good or bad. I love receiving feedback that expresses your thoughts and feelings. Great comments are gifts of your time. Thank you!
Now, on with the show!
