Welcome to the Show Chapter 2, and some stuff about the story. · 2:22pm Nov 14th, 2014

Chapter 2 of Welcome to the Show is up. I was going to wait to post it, but I've been totally emboldened by the overwhelming positive response the story has received. I guess you guys are as eager as I am to see some attention given to Aria.

So if you're wondering why I wrote this story, I'll tell you. If you aren't wondering that, skip this part

[tl;dr]
When EqG1 was announced, I was a very vocal skeptic, and it took a minute for me to (get up, get down) come around and give it a chance, and when I did, by god it was like discovering pony all over again; I didn't think I'd like it, but I fell in love with it. I've learned my lesson since then, and so I welcomed the sequel with open arms and spastic anticipation.

I loved EqG, but Rainbow Rocks has become something more akin to an obsession for me. I cannot get enough of this movie. Roughly 24 hours after its release, I obtained the first camrip, and since then I have watched the movie every day, sometimes more than once. It's gotten to the point where I can't fall asleep without it playing.

I could go on for hours about how it did everything I hoped it would for Sunset Shimmer, about the music, etc. etc., but eventually I hope to do a review of the movie, so I'll save that stuff for then. So: Dazzlings. Honestly, for the first month, I was more focused on Sunset, but about two weeks ago I started to give them their deserved attention. Being a member of the super-sekrit club know as 4chins, I gravitated toward the Dazzling thread (it's an amazing thread, go check it out if you haven't already), and I noticed something: Adagio and Sonata get a disparate amount of attention. There are a few staunch Ariafags, but by and large the grouchy purple siren just doesn't get as much love as her compatriots. Back when the characters were first revealed, I was drawn to Aria simply because of her design. I'd recently finished an ongoing greentext for the Luna thread, and I decided it was the perfect time to write something for the less-appreciated siren.
[/tl;dr]

So, here's what's up with this story:

I currently have 3 chapters completed. Two have obviously been posted, the third will be posted in the next few days when I finish editing it. I'm going to begin the fourth later today after I get some sleep/sober up.

I plan to keep the chapters short-ish, between 4-7k words apiece.

This is going to be a novel-length story. Not epic, high-fantasy length, but it'll be a book.

I hope to put out one chapter a week. It's been about 2 weeks, and I've done 3 chapters, so in that respect I'm actually ahead of schedule, but I also have music and art stuff to work on, so that's what I believe it will even out to.

I post these chapters (with slightly less editing) in /mlp/'s Dazzling thread first. The first 3 have already been posted there, but starting with chapter 4, if you're super-eager for the next part, you should hang out there. Also, it's just a great thread.

The cover art is by me, if anyone was wondering. I was pretty hammered when I drew it. I plan to do a new one every so often.

I've got the particulars of the story planned out pretty solidly, and I'm estimating 2-3 months to complete it, depending on how much of my time work and my other hobbies take up.

Thank you so much to anyone and everyone who read or is reading. You're all rad dudes.

While I definitely wasn't as big a fan of EQG 1 as you were,

but Rainbow Rocks has become something more akin to an obsession for me

this has definitely been the case for me. I've also found myself enjoying EQG 1 more as a result of RR.

The story itself seems pretty solid, and I'm wondering if it'll continue to lack mention/inclusion of Rainbooms and/or Sunset.

Your "Welcome to the Show" story was "RainbowBob" reviewed! You can find the post here :D

Though it is actually a tribute for RainbowBob~
