A Progress Update of a Sorts

So schools out now, and I finally have some free space in my schedule. Besides work, job internships, preparation for classes next year, meaningless social functions, rugby, practicing instruments, and creating a website, I'm a free man... kinda. Woohoo.

Random Progress blog / New Episode

Heya! Haven't heard from me in a while, but I finally had a legitimate reason to write a blog.

I found this great fan-made, full-length episode that you all should all check out if you haven't already.

    Important Announcements, and More!

First things first: I've been kept up with family issues and a few other things. Other than that my biggest problem is the current medication that I've been on causes loss of interest in things, social detachment, and depression, all of which makes it incredibly hard to get in the mood for writing. I've also exhibited a noticeable change in personality since I've started taking them. I didn't

What I've been up to (not much)

My life has been very busy as of late. I scarcely find myself with time to a computer and the inspiration required for writing at the same time. So instead of banging my head into a wall like I have been doing for the last 3 or so weeks, I decided to write a blog to elicit some inspiration and to let you all know I haven't fallen off of the face of the earth yet.

    Woohoo!!! Featured!!!

So I went on fimfiction, expecting my story to still be in processing, but lo and behold... I got 168 notifications. Then I checked the front page and my story was only on the first slot of the new stories section. Then ten minutes later after dinner and such... it was featured. Let me savor this moment.

How life gets complicated... · 5:16pm Jun 21st, 2012

This is a first blog post for me so let me know if I'm doing this right because I have no idea. My life has gotten interesting to say the least. Apart from grandparents coming up from Florida, parties with friends, getting a job, and hurting my back at said job, I have recently started on a medication that causes behavior changes, depression, and loss of interest among a whole list of other symptoms. Hence, writing to say the least has gotten very difficult and I can't seem to focus on one story and feel satisfied with my work resulting in neither of my two published stories or my 2 unpublished stories going anywhere. It's completely maddening.

So I'll end my first blog with a question:

How to you cure writers block?

The first thing I go to is music. I find that songs carry an emotional feel that can be absorbed. I don't know if it would work for anyone else, but just putting on some shuffled music always gives me an idea in one way or another.

The second thing is just to watch media. Anything really. Try to find something with a decent story. In my experience anime and manga work for that. Don't just read or watch it though. Pay attention to the feel that's being achieved. Whenever there is a cool, sad, happy, etc moment, note how it was done and set up. Try your best to learn from it.

Third, just go for a walk. Try to just stroll somewhere quiet. It gets blood going and it's easy to get lost in thought.

Fourth, (this one is kinda weird but probably the most effective) drink water. Your brain needs a lot of water to function well. It sounds stupid but it really works. Whenever I write I always drink a lot beforehand. My best work (not just in writting) comes from simply being hydrated.

Those are the things that work for me, but everyone is different and has their methods. Just experiment until you find a routine that works for you.

There's no real cure everyone has there own method for dealing with it. It could be reading lisening to music or watching TV. Just find what works for you. Sorry I couldnt help.

Thanks I'll try those after work today. See what happens.

I have found that staring at the blank page on the screen for an hour helps. My mind wanders and sometimes I can pick up ideas from that. Or, you can ignore your stories and go on with life and wait for ideas to come. Ideas come at the weirdest times (my favorite place was at work, while I was hauling stuff from the freezer. Why did inspiration strike there? I have no idea....)

192186 Strange I sometimes get the same thing happening while I work / go on break. Must be the thought if not writing that helps the most. Good new though, I slowly got back into tempo with my writing again. Hopefully I can crank through the end of chapter 8 for SU, and totally rewrite the third chapter of MT :twilightangry2: (which may have caused my sudden distaste for writing).
