People are still reading my stuff... · 8:35am Jun 20th, 2012
Why?
I mean, don't get me wrong. I love seeing a knew reader subscribing to my stories every day or so, but seriously, I don't get it. "Dreams of Loyalty" is still pulling an average of about 20 something views a day if I'm reading that weird status chart correctly. A couple days ago I had about five people view it in a 24 hour period, and two days latter I had 36 in one day. I've been checking regularly and there hasn't been a single day that I've seen where someone, or more accurately, several someones have viewed my story. And I know their new people because I've also averaging about 5-6 new followers a week. Sometimes more, sometimes a little less, but still they're still coming.
At first I wall pretty put out about well received "Dreams" was in the beginning. One of my previous stories, "Parties and Cider: a Pinkie Dash Story" actually made it on to the featured column and box for a good 36 hours, a large portion of that time being spent at the number two and three places. I was really hoping for a similar reaction to "Dreams" but when I first posted it my "Big Project" didn't even get a mention. The odd thing is though, that while "Parties and Cider" was very much a flash in the pan, doing very well the first few days and then receiving a favorite ever couple of weeks or so, "Dreams" has maintained a very steady rhythm. People keep reading it, and if the comments and number of likes are to be believed, enjoying it.
Clearly I'm doing something right. Obviously it's not perfect, and some things are very out of place and need to be changed (I'm looking at you chapter 4) but there seems to be something that keeps people wanting to read. I just wish they'd leave a comment now and again. Though I'm one to talk. :P
You gotta continue it, man! Your story is brilliant! (And I'm bored not having to proofread for you anymore)
On a side note, I've gotten around to writing a fic of my own
Currently, it's at 2,000 words. So excited.

hehe, if your that board you could always give "Parties and Cider" a going over. I don't think that thing has ever had a full proof reading.

I have to finish Carnificina first, then I'll maybe give it a shot. Not going to tie myself to it just yet, though, as other things may come up.
Also, as a writer, I'm curious if you might do me the honour of having a read of what I've done once I have it uploaded. It has alot of potential and has been receiving praise from those who've read some of it, but I would really appreciate a read from a writers perspective.
I'm not sure what it is about 'Dreams' to be honest. It's just an interesting idea that I think you're pulling off quite well. I think everyone's had moments in which their various loyalties have conflicted. Usually it's a simple choice over what's more important, but not being able to choose would be terrible.... Or... y'know the reason the story's awesome could be PinkieDash
