So, my new avatar. I didn't draw it. And the person who did I never got to truly meet. So how did I get it? Well, its a cool story.
I was at my very first Pony Convention, a small thing in a hotel with a tiny vending hall and only four other rooms. But it was close by, so I gave it a try and I loved it. I cosplayed as Rainbow Dash, and met a lot of very nice people. Never before had I felt so much love. I am still amazed by the acceptance and love in this fandom. It was fascinating. This particular story is an example of love from that experience.
While I was in the vending hall at the beginning of the convention, I saw I young woman wearing a fantastic Mailmare Derpy cosplay. I got her attention and told her so. "I really like your costume!" I said. That was it. Then I moved on and explored the rest of the convention.
Near the end of the day, I was tired and very happy. I was standing and chatting with some newly made friends, then went off to go get a drink or something. As I was walking alone, the same girl in the Derpy costume rushed up to me in a blur. "This is for you." She said. She handed me a torn piece of notebook paper, and rushed away. On it was a fantastic drawing of Rainbow Dash. I could tell she had drawn it that day, as there will still pencil lines from her original sketch.
It really showed me how amazing people are. I was so impressed. Within a few hours of my simple compliment, she had returned a beautiful drawing to me on a torn piece of paper. And I never got her name.
So a few months later, here I am. And I am setting this excellent picture as my profile picture. As a little shout out to her. I hope she sees it. I hope she reads this. If she is out there, and finds this, I want to say:
Thank you. I don't think I got the chance to say that, you ran away too fast. Thank you for this drawing. It made my day. I love it. It is in a safe place. Thank you.
Yeah, it's a cool story.
