In which Progress is being made! · 9:37pm Oct 20th, 2014

It's... going. Better than I thought it would, but still frustratingly slow. I'm pretty confident it'll be finished by Halloween, though.

I've also been reading a lot more, recently. Not as many pony fics—actual, published books. (My, how that distinction likely won't last.)

First, Terry Pratchett's Making Money:

Very good book. Of course, quite a lot of Terry Pratchett's books are very, very good, so that's not much of a surprise. Bit short, though. But what I really got out of it was a crash-course in fantasy economics, which has made me re-think Interloper's Equestrian bit.

Just gonna say this; Base. Eight.

Second, and currently in progress, Dmitry Glukhovsky's Metro 2033:

I believe that may be the amazon cover, as mine has the same image, but no sequel promotion. In any case, this is turning out to be a fantastic book. I got an english e-book version from the android marketplace that seems to be holding up well, translation-wise, and I'm... I'd guess a fifth into it, where Artyom and Bourbon are traveling together.

That being said... I've seen the game played, which is to say, I've seen Spoiler Warning's season of it. Between their rambling, and having been playing something else while half-listening, I got names and basic plot points, and "This part's gameplay sucked, but is significant to the story".

I wouldn't recommend this, as the two are turning out to be very different beasts. I have not seen nor played Last Light, but desperately want to... After I finish the book. It does a wonderful thing that video games cannot, where it actually describes characters. They're all much more interesting, this way. To be sure, I'm going to play both games, but after I finish their respective books, like I said.

That's mostly it. I'll release The Last Stand of Dame Twilight Sparkle's Personal Guard the day before Halloween, and with it, several other chapters of various other stories. Even if you don't like that, Conflict of Interest will very definitely update, as that's finished and written.
