First off: Dominion of the Night has broke the 1k view mark! Wooooo~!
Secondly: Sorry for the delay on the third chapter of Nightfall, it's actually borderline ready to post... but um, I've sorta been caught up in Destiny here lately. Despite a mix of reviews, I'm completely addicted.
Anyhoooooowwww... Before it goes up I needed to rant on a couple things.
I've gotten a few messages regarding certain details in the story that seem out of place or disconnected with the show. Nevermind that it's supposed to be an alternate universe take on Luna's downfall, I think the problem is rooted in the fact that some were thinking it'd be a direct tie-in to FiM, or maybe even like an extended scene. But... it's not. And if the events of the story haven't already shown it's vastly different, then what's coming up in the next couple chapters should really - for better or worse, depending on your mindset - set it apart.
Now, just to be clear: Nightfall is not part of the FiM universe. It would've been, but the story concept and a good chunk of it was written before the fourth (and even third) season of FiM came out. That season both changed and brought a lot of new things that I simply couldn't of planned for... and so, that leaves Nightfall a standalone story.
Now... this leads to another project that I've been toying with for a looo∞oong time. It's based on Star Swirl's adventures (titled pretty much that), and it's a mix of stories which varied from light hearted and silly to some of the more darker events of Starfall as he bounced from point to point in time. I had always wanted to grow him more as a character, especially considering how important his role is in my series, but... I'm uncertain now. It seems very likely he'll get a role at some point in FiM - even if it's a tiny cameo - and that makes me leery.
On the side of that, I've even tinkered with completely remaking Starfall to try and fall in-line with the current known events to make this work... but there's still so many things that could easily break the story, so I'm really not sure if I want to sink that kind of work into it. For now, I'll just have to wait and see how I'm feelin' after Nightfall is wrapped up.
