Just as an fyi, the story League of Letters is going to have nothing to do with the new lore updates. As a lore lover, they make me cross, and i prefer to believe they don't exist. Renekton and Nasus are still going to have been pulled from a desert world and live in Shurima, and His Royal Sandyness doesn't exist. Sorry, guys, that's how it is. i wish i could ignore the Freljord update, but I actually want to include parts of it, and i'll be damned if i hybrid that stuff. So, yeah, i'm just gonna keep the cut off for the retcons at Ascension.
On to less gripey news, i absolutely LOVE the new game mode. Ascending as Vi feels AMAZING! BIGGER FISTS FOR BIGGER PUNCHES YEAH! v^Dainty cough^v i mean, i like it because it is mechanically sound and... JUST FRIGGIN FUN! Makes me excited to get to the point where she comes in to the story, now. Well, more excited, really. She's always been my favourite character in the entire League, but hey.
Slight spoilers for Match 1 bellow. Not huge, but eh, thought i should at least say
Anywho, i'm already working full steam on Match 2: A Pony in the Hoof, and it's going well, despite my rage. Still gotta love dat Rumble. Speaking of which, i'd like to explain something that was pointed out to me. A friend said he seemed a bit mellow for his normal character, and that he should be more standoffish. This is a misconception. Rumble hates HUMANS because they think of yordles as small, fuzzy, doofy little idiots that are fun to laugh at. He would have no problem with the ponies, as they are a similar size, albeit the ponies are a bit longer, but that's about it. RD and the gang are going to come up to about the hip of most humans, so, to Rainbow, Rumble seems a fairly reasonable size. See? No inherent animosity.
I dislike a lot of the lore changes too. It seems like Riot is so eager to update the lore, they don't think about whether it's an improvement or not. One of my favorite characters, Xerath, had his lore shrunk from a page or so to about two sentences. Take a look on the wiki if you want to see just how far it fell. Most of the Freljord stuff I can handle since only a few were drastic changes, Anivia and Trundle being the two I can think of off the top of my head. I can accept those changes since it actually ties them to the rest of the League now.
2461615 Honestly, those two ticked me off to no end. Nivi was basically from a plane of elementals where she was the living embodiment of ice and cold. Trundle, though, Trundle STILL makes my blood boil. Trundle was AWESOME! He had taken on a curse meant for his entire tribe, and took it all into himself, only staying alive because he regenerated so quickly that it couldn't eat his flesh fast enough to finish him off. He was one of those champs that, if he was free of his confinement, he would have ruined the game due to being unbeatable. Now he's a slimy jerk of an evil troll that eats people. Whoo. Way to be original Rito.
But, yeah, I'm all with you on Xerath, he had some of my favourite lore in the League. Ascending to PURE POWER based solely on his own research and intellect? AWESOME!
Anywho, it looks like they're wiping out all the planar travel from the lore, so my story is quickly losing credence. Speaking of, expect Malphite and Taric to get reworks soon, calling it right now.
2461700 I'm somewhat less annoyed about Trundle. It was a definite change for the worse with his lore, but before he, and a lot of the champs they changed, had pretty much zero relation to anything else in the game.
If you're looking for a way to justify interplanar travel after the retcons you could always use the Void. That's some lore that I really like.
