Just your average british lad. I write things for a living. It’s the strangest living you’ll ever find, second only to my inability to take myself off of the grid.

What have we learned so far? · 6:11pm Sep 11th, 2014

Well, for the upcoming Equestria Girls 2 movie, we've had some pretty good sneaky peakies at the film so far. So let's see what we've learned so far...

RECAP

The Dazzlings, three girls who were banished from Equestria, are now feeding on the hatred and fury of innocent humans.

HOLD IT!!!

First off, I love the idea of having these three as villains for a movie that focuses itself on a music event instead of high-school shenanigans. Judging from how this scene played out, it looks like someone named Adagio Dazzle is the leader of the group. Now, recent digging has confirmed that her voice actor is Kazumi Evans, the voice for Rarity's Singing Voice and Luna's Singing Voice. That voice gives you a sense of danger, as if you should be fearing this group instead of loving them as she states.

She's accompanied by Aria Blaze, voiced by Maryke Hendrikse, a somewhat more obscurer voice actor in this series. The only other role that Maryke did was Gilda The Griffon back in Season 1, so it's nice to take a trip down VA memory lane. Anyways, Aria is seen as more of a whiny little brat who seems to care little about that fact that they're gaining "Energy" from hatred and anger. This makes her another high-value target in this story, as her voice seems agitated and angry at something.

The third member of this little trio is a Miss Sonata Dusk, voiced by Diana Kaarina, a voice actor who's history is shrouded in mystery. The only other thing that Diana did was a LOT of Barbie movies, so we know nothing about this VA yet. The thing about Sonata, is that she seems more laid back than the other Dazzlings, even as a villain, she seems pretty quirky during conversations such as this.

Another key point of importance in this video, is that fact that these three were banished from Equestria, whereas every other villain was either sealed away, turned to stone, pulsed out of a capital city by love, or had the darkness inside of them exorcised. This makes me believe that the Dazzlings must have done something much, MUCH hardcore then the stuff that Tirek pulled in Twilight's Kingdom.

The final key piece of importance, is during the end of the clip, where we see the same dark pillar and rainbow attack from Equestria Girls 1. So this means Sunset Shimmer's defeat caused the Dazzlings to hatch their evil plot for high-school domination. Very interesting indeed...

CHS is setting up a musical showcase, which highlights the best of every genre of music.

HOLD IT!!!

While I do consider this kind of pointless filler, this is actually a very touching and heartwarming scene in which Sunset gets absolutely NO love from anyone, besides the Mane 6. After all the crap she did in Equestria Girls 1, I kind of see where the other kids are coming from on this one, but at the same time, I feel a little bit of sympathy for Sunny here.

She's completely distraught by the fact that she's the public enemy of CHS now, and the only thing keeping her from going back to her dark side, was the support of the Mane 6 themselves. This opens many more questions for the movie ahead, how is Sunset Shimmer going to play a part in a movie where she's no longer the antagonist?

There are many topics open for discussion here, but we'll get to those when the movie comes out itself.

The Mane 6 remind us of how CHS is still going strong with their bonds after Twilight left.

HOLD IT!!!

This part also seems like pointless filler here, we know that CHS became an all-is-welcome school after Twilight left, and I really see no need for a song being snuck into here. It's kind of repetitive, and on top of that, we already know that this song is good spirited. Yet it's still nice to see Sunny dancing to it in the long run.

Also, as if he wasn't enough in the first film, Brad Sexin- I-I mean, Flash Sentry is also making an appearance in this movie as well. I can see this enraging some people and getting some people to laugh at the fact that he still exists as a hot kid in this school.

Also, it's kind of weird having him fantasize about Pony Twilight, since she is a horse and he's a guy. We all know from Sonic 06 that a relationship between a human and an animal doesn't work. This kind of made me hate Flash a little more now, seeing as he love loves Princess Twilight now, but we're only on the surface of this manner, so I'm gonna end this press moment.

Sunset Shimmer gets her first encounter with Adagio, Aria and Sonata, The Dazzlings.

HOLD IT!!!

I like how the movie itself is staying true to the overview here.

As tensions mount between the competing musical acts, a reformed Sunset Shimmer realizes that the Dazzlings may not be ordinary girls and are after something far more sinister than just being named Best Band at Canterlot High.

This scene is a dead giveaway that Sunset knows the villains, and their weaknesses. I would make a rant about it, but I think I'd best leave it out of the discussion for the time being. My last rant didn't go so well...

But anyways, it's nice that we get a little private time with a former antagonist, and the new antagonist. It makes you wonder if the Dazzlings are gonna try and convert Sunset back to the dark side in the future, like Tirek did with Discord. Furthermore:

You'll have to excuse them, they're idiots.

That line, that line right there, is proof that Adagio doesn't really care about her own associates, even when she's meant to be the villain and they're supposed to be her aides in this movie. It kind of sends a chill down my spine for the future outcome of the movie. But still, it's gonna be interesting to see what Adagio and The Dazzlings can pull off in this movie.

The Dazzlings invoke the school to turn their music festival into a Battle Of the Bands tournament.

HOLD IT!!!

My god, that scene was definitely a surprise when I first saw it. It seems as if we're getting a little bit of a hint for the outcome of this movie. I'm starting to think that this Battle Of The Bands is all a front so that The Dazzlings can feast on more hatred and play the entire school for idiots. It would make sense, seeing as the green mist is back from the first clip.

The song, fittingly titled "Let's Have A Battle (Of The Bands)" is quite a delight to listen to, once you get down with the upcoming events. It's got a nice beat to it, it's got some talented singing and dancing that would convince anyone, even you to prove you're the best of the best. It's also the first MLP Villain Song we've had in years. In case you're keeping track, there hasn't been a villain song since This Day Aria.

Also, by the looks of things, I think there's gonna be a Trixie band and a Diamond Tiara band, which would be awesome, seeing as Diamond and Trixie need to do a lot more things and be adored by the entire fandom. Also, I just wanted to point this out, there is finally an Equestria Girls Octavia, they finally realized what we wanted to see as a reference in EQG 1, now all we need is a Equestria Girls Lyra...

Finally, it looks like the only ones who aren't in favor of this battle are the Mane 6, and Sunset, as they witnessed first-hand, the power of the Dazzlings and their sick and twisted motives. This kind of brings up an important question, how is Twilight going to fit into this film? Well...

We get a 30 second teaser for the upcoming events in this movie.

HOLD IT!!!

Well, as much as I could consider this a teaser, it seems like there's even more interesting plot points to witness here. One of them, is how does Twilight know that CHS has come under some sort of threat? The second, is why has the portal been moved? And the third, is how has Twilight hacked the system, so she's able to go through the portal and back as she pleases?

These questions are only minor tales of interest, and might not bear any significance to the plot at hand, but it's nice to be assured that Princess Twilight IS going to be in this Equestria Girls 2 at last.

*Music Stops*

And with that, I have spoken.

Let me know what you guys think about this little recap, if you have anything about these clips you wish to discuss with me or someone else, be sure to slam it down in the comments below.

But we shall see how all this info pays off when the movie itself comes out...
