A Christian nerd; probably the only guy you ever met who wanted the Larrymobile to be transformed by the All-Spark. My brother, The Traveler12, is NOT the lamest person you've ever met. Check him out!

Spoiler Alert: Batman Gotham Knight, Part 3 · 3:37am Sep 1st, 2014

:twilightsmile:: The next segment, "Working Through the Pain," focuses on Batman's painful trek through the sewer while suffering from wounds from the fight. His wanderings and struggling are interspersed with flashbacks to his world travels. Instead of focusing on his fight training and detective work, like most writers would, this segment focuses on medical training and pain resistance. It's a very welcome change of pace.
:raritystarry:: It also sets up some interesting ideas about Bruce's psychology, like how he'll never leave Gotham, no matter how much it mistreats him, because it's where he belongs. Or how he'll never let go of his pain, because he enjoys the path it leads him down. Overall, it's a remarkably insightful and emotional 20 minutes, and arguably the best part of the film.
:twilightsmile:: Finally, we get to "Deadshot." Three guesses what this segment's about. The segment sets up Deadshot as a symbol of the role of guns in Batman's world. The casual way they endow intoxicating, but surprisingly limited, power on people who want control in their lives.
:rainbowdetermined2:: This segment, even keeping "In Darkness Dwells" in mind, is probably the most entertaining of the bunch. Quite frankly, with action this good, I wish the cinematographer had worked on the Arkham games. Deadshot might've been a bit less underwhelming in those that way.
:twilightangry2:: If there's anything wrong with this segment, it's that Deadshot's character is a bit mishandled. When Batman catches Deadshot and holds him out over the edge of a train, Deadshot starts freaking out. Which is very unusual for a man with a death wish.
So, what's the final verdict? Well, unfortunately, the overall narrative is incohesive and disjointed, but that unfortunately doesn't stop the different segments from occasionally blurring together. As individual units, they work well enough, and if you're a Batman fan or an anime connoisseur, you'll definitely find at least a few parts to enjoy. Still, I'm not sure I can really recommend the film as a whole to the average viewer.
:yay:: Well, that didn't go so bad!
:facehoof:: No, no it didn't. Still, we might want to avoid watching another DC Animated Movie too soon. They seem to be more violent and dark than you're ready for on a regular basis, Fluttershy. What should we do next? I think I'm finally ready to watch X-Men: Or....
Not so fast!
:twilightoops:: Wh-who was that?!
Me!

:twilightoops:: D-Deadshot?!
Yes! I overheard that you were less than thrilled with my video game portrayals.
:rainbowderp:: Well, yeah. The first one was a pretty basic detective/stealth challenge. And the second one was a blatant reskin of the Two-Face boss battle!
Well, if that's the case, in order to rebuild my street cred, I guess you'll have to review my most significant other-media appearance to date!

:pinkiecrazy:: Will Deadshot's dignity be restored? Will we have to watch Killer Croc get beat up again?! Will we ever stop watching movies and actually do our jobs?!? Find out the answers next time! Maybe!! Same Pony-Time, same Pony-Channel!!
:twilightangry2:: Pinkie, you are NOT HELPING!!

Note to self, watch Assault on Arkham BEFORE the next review

2418877 I might be posting the next one quicker than usual. The plan is to watch it tomorrow night with Phoenix Avalon, The Red Scarecrow, and maybe a few others. Of course, given how difficult it is to arrange for doing things on Skype, and given how difficult it would be to write a review during a school week, who knows.

2418892 well, I'm in on it for sure.

2418980 I thought you would be, but I didn't want to list you without being certain.

2419551 That reminds me; do you think Rocksteady's going to try to make a Suicide Squad game?

2420593 Don't know; what sort of genre would that be, anyway?

2420603 Probably action/stealth/third-person shooter. I've been thinking about this theory for a while now. Considering the references the team got in Origins and Origins: Blackgate, and the fact tht two of the Squadders showed in those games aren't in this movie, I was already suspicious. But the fact that Arkham Knight is going to be Rocksteady's last Arkham game means that either WB is probably going to assign a different studio to the Arkham franchise or Rocksteady plans on continuing their superhero success streak, but not within the confines of the Arkham games.

2420710 I would agree, but having stealth elements might limit your selection of members. I mean, I don't know how much time King Shark spends with Task Force X, but what are the odds of Harley or Ivy being willing to do that much sneaking around, and being good at it?

2420801 Well, that's why not every character would necessarily get a stealth option. Or you could just do characters more inclined to stealth. Deathstroke, Deadshot, Bronze Tiger, Captain Boomerang, etc.

2420876 I guess that means in parts of the campaign requiring stealth, you'd only be allowed to play as those characters, or perhaps just one, a la the Transformers: FOC campaign.
