On The Subject Of Clop... · 10:35pm Aug 27th, 2014

Blog Post #2! Cue the intro music!

...
Ok, now that I have your attention...

It has been a few weeks since my last blog post, and quite a bit has happened in that time. I posted a few more pointless comedic one-shots, I attempted to hone my mediocre skills, and I turned 21, thus discovering the Magic of Alcohol.

I myself don't really count any of those as significant achievements.

Well...except maybe for that last one. Good times.

Before anything else, a big thanks to everyone who viewed, liked, favorited and followed. You are all amazing and a damn good reason for me to keep going.

I now find myself at a crossroads, one that every author on this site comes to eventually. Some choose to omit it and continue on their intended path. Some choose to walk it, traveling into a new and uncharted territory. And there are a few that were walking it all along, and continue to walk.

I am talking of course about that lovely red tag.

Mature.

Now so far the worst thing that I have done is have a drug-fueled psychopath curb stomp and mutilate a few changlings before going off on a record-breaking verbal tantrum to a bunch of innocent colts and fillies. But honestly, its Trevor. What did you expect?

Since we are on the subject, I would like to take a moment to apologize to any of the changling lovers out there who were offended by the changling abuse. I am being sincere, as I do not have anything against changlings. I am actually a changling lover myself and was thinking about doing some stories featuring them in the future. Minus any drug-fueled, lovable psychopaths.

But anyway, back on topic. Now when we say mature in regards to this site's stories, there is one word that immediately comes to mind:

Clop.

Huh...There's a word I haven't seen before. What does it mean, Mr. Liberator?

I'm glad you asked, Scoots. You see, clop is when [REDACTED] engage in acts of [REDACTED] with other [REDACTED]. Now keep in mind that it doesn't just have to be exclusive to [REDACTED]. It might also include [REDACTED] where stories involving [REDACTED] are concerned. Now, these acts of [REDACTED] can vary greatly. Sometimes they can involve just a good old fashioned [REDACTED], entire groups of [REDACTED] which is called a [REDACTED], or even [REDACTED] getting together and [REDACTED] each other's [REDACTED] to the point where they achieve [REDACTED]. It might even involve them using [REDACTED] on each other's [REDACTED], followed by [REDACTED] and then a glorious session of [REDACTED][REDACTED][REDACTED][REDACTED][REDACTED][REDACTED][REDACTED][REDACTED][REDACTED][REDACTED][REDACTED][REDACTED][REDACTED][REDACTED][REDACTED][REDACTED].

But that's just the quick version. Would you like the longer one?

.............................

Oh gee, I broke the Scootaloo. Oh well.

But anyway, I am wondering what you all think. Should I make the leap? Cross the line that cannot be uncrossed? Dive into the world full of raunchy goodness and completely strip away any scrap of innocence and shame that I have left?

Because I will for you guys and gals.

Anyway, anyone who reads this please let me know what you think. Call me overly cautious or whatever, but this is the internet. Once something is out there, it's out there. I will be taking a break for a while, but might release one or two pointless one-shots until I reach a decision regarding this.

Now if you all excuse me, I have heard an awful lot about this game lately. I think it is time to check out this "Freddy's Fright Night" or whatever the hell it's called.

Can't be any worse than Slender or SCP...

...right?

While I won't object to you writing erotica, I do advise you to consider that clop writers tend to have a high burn out rate.
The demand for more material from followers tends to increase for clop writers.
Just decide for yourself whether you want to or not, don't let anyone pressure you either way.

It's your call at the end of the day, but remember, you will be writing 'mature' fics about a little girls show. If you can reconcile that with your own values, fine. But personally, I see clop as taking far less skill (no offence to clop writers) than a well written comedy or adventure fic. It's a slippery slope and such fics rarely last as long as non-clop fics. They get viewed for a while, pop up on the feature box and then they are just forgotten. Whereas stories such as 'Meet mah Uncle' will last for a long time.

Honestly, I love your fics, they're well written, funny and I frequently go back to them. Clop can be well written and funny, but you rarely find yourself going back to one. I stay stick with what you've got and don't spoil it because you want to keep publishing. Good stories take time, clop doesn't.

That's...kinda what I thought as well...

I mean, you look at authors like TittySparkles and The Abyss, but don't get me wrong. They are great authors and are fantastic at what they do. It's just...I don't know. It seems like straight up clop at this point is just mindless repetition. As far as the "details" in every story goes, it feels like there really isn't any originality at this point. They are all saying the same thing. The authors in turn come up with even crazier kinks to try to gain back some of the originality. And some of these kinks...

Well, lets just say that there are social stigmas regarding our fandom for a reason.

But as you said, Blade, I would try to combine it with the one thing that I do know how to do: comedy. I have a lot of what I think are fine ideas in that category, and would hate for them to be spoiled. However, it would require crossing that line. I don't want to do anything crazy or go into these rather...disturbing kinks. I just want to get to the punch line, but make it look good as I do it. I want to keep it as clean as I can.

I...need to think...
