How to not make the Equestrian Royalty incompetant · 8:04am Aug 26th, 2014
I am planning in my story (sorry its taking so long, I now have a job as a tour guide and most recently I've been participating in a Medieval re-enactment) I am planning a big ambush sequence with the Equestrian royalty in the thick of it. Now in the show they've been in my opinion, handled very poorly, presented as obstacles that must be removed for the main characters to advance their stories. That's not what I want for this story, I want to portray them as competent, powerful and able to hold their own against any threat. But they are also central to the plot, without giving too much away how would you make a successful ambush on Alicorn royalty to demonstrate how effective and powerful your antagonists are but still give the sense that the Royal family is still a force to be reckoned with and not just a whole load of Princess Peaches?
2416355 Likewise. I re-enact the 15th Century (Wars of the Roses) and 5th Century (Late Roman Empire). The re-enactment I was participating in was a Wars of the Roses living history event, demonstrating what life was like on the march. We fight on the side of Henry VI of the House of Lancaster, and more immediately with Lord John 9th Baron De Clifford, known to his enemies as 'the Butcher'.
