We are so spoiled · 8:27pm Aug 20th, 2014
So, I watched Project Thundercloud II:
I personally thought it was kinda confusing, but overall entertaining fan product, and after checking the comment section I got answers for my questions that I didn't get from the video, like 'Why did Celestia go mad?' 'What happened with the mane 6 after the end?'
Then, I've started reading the other comments and... dudes, I think we are seriously spoiled I mean...
Get better voice actors!
These are fans. FANS. Not professionals who have 5 years of experience and are paid for doing this for 8 hours/day. Yes, the fandom have a few voice actors who are talented, but they are not going to jump into voicing everything, and will definitely think twice for voicing something as long as 22 minutes.
Double Rainboom pupets, boo!
Creating new puppets would require a vector artist. An animator is not a vector artist. Personally I don't see a problem with this pupets, I mean... why do you expect show quality? 5 years of ex, paid, 8 hours, yada, yada.
The elements are swapped!
It was intentional for aesthetic purpose.
I didn't like the 3d stuff. It looked awful
I personally loved the idea of mixing flash with 3d stuff. So, opinions.
This is incomplete, it needs a lot more work!
The guy worked more than a year on it, and the sequel was canceled because of criticism and C&D fear.
The story is full of clichés! 7th Element, really?
What is a cliché and what is not is actually extremely dependent on where are you asking. Having a 7th element might be a cliché for us on Fimfiction, because it was written over and over again. However, this was an animation, which a completely different world/ecosystem. How many animations have you watched so far, where there was a 7th element? If it's under 100, then it's not a cliché.
But... artists need criticism!
Yes they do. However, people tend to confuse criticism with simply telling their opinions. A good critique points out both the good and the bad things, and actually knows what he is talking about. If you have no idea about animation, don't try to stand out and present your opinion as 'constructivre critisism'.
These things can be actually applied to any other art too, not just animations, although it might be easier to find a good proofreader than asking EileMonty/MEMJ for voicing Princess Celestia.
I liked it, it's a cool fan film
I just didn't like it because the story was utterly confusing. Also, fans or not, they could have told the voice actor for Doctor Hooves to slow it down. Or lay off the coke.
2386215 I think the DW voice actor was intentionally blabling. You know, imitating the Doctor. Unfortunately, what he didn't understand is that the Doctor only speak like that when he is explaining stuff, but not when he is talking with emotions.
