Oh Captain! My Captain! · 2:51pm Aug 12th, 2014
Robin Williams, a man I looked up greatly to, is now dead. I'm not going to lie and tell you it's just another celebrity death that the press hypes where it doesn't phase me. It does, a lot. I know you can call it stupid to mourn for someone I've never met in person or to feel an attachment to an actor rather than the character that, admittedly, is most of the reason he earned my respect.
I don't care. Either way, humanity lost someone who brought light and happiness into a world that needed it; someone who showed us that sometimes laughter actually is a great medicine and is the sign of spreading human joy; someone who taught many, including me, that if we can learn to find something to smile for, laugh for, or write poetry for, then we can command our own destiny to seize the day and change the world.
Oh Captain! My Captain!
There won't be men quite like him, anymore He was one-in-a-million, one-in-a-trillion.
One-in-a-darned-Googolplex.
We've NEVER had a friend like him (PUN!)
