Beginnings

Did you know, that when I started this project, it was just an excuse to write up a backstory for my character? I had planned a prologue and three chapters. I wanted to change things around with my OC and thought this would be a fun way to do it. As I wrote, more ideas started in my mind. Additional chapters were added.

At some point the story started to go in a direction I had not planned. But since I know that if a story seems to flow in a natural way, to just run with it. So I did. And the story moved back and forth, and soon I had 6 chapters and a prologue planned and partially written.

I got to Chapter 3, which was what I really wanted to write about. That chapter came out really fast. I felt good, and took a break while I closed on my new house.

Then something odd happened. I had a list of names of throw away characters and one really seemed to resonate with me. And the more I wrote about her, the more I liked her, and the story exploded.

When I started this, I thought maybe 40 pages, tops. We're presently sitting at 78 pages (not all posted), 10 chapters (planned), a prologue, an epilogue, and two interludes.

I hope, dear readers, that you're ready for a ride. This story is going to go down a long dark path before we get to the end.
