Europe update: Paris · 6:21pm Jul 31st, 2014
I'd like to note before starting that the French town of Bayeux seems to be completely devoid of useable public Wi-Fi. That is really the only explanation I have concerning my silence during the last few days, despite my promise to keep regular updates on my trip through Europe.
Normandy is a beautiful region of France. I mean, there is such incredible natural beauty there that I just cannot describe properly. The American cemetery at Normandy is really very impressive, albeit in a sobering way. We stayed in the medieval city of Bayeux, which contains a wealth of museums and incredible architecture. One of the most notable examples is the huge cathedral right in the centre of the city. I also got to see the famous Bayeux tapestry, detailing the Norman invasion of England, led by William the Conqueror.
We then took several trains to Paris. The city is marvelous. I really can't think of anything else to call it... except maybe crowded. Marvelous and crowded.
I have more to say, but we're leaving to eat right now. I will continue after we return.
