Concerning "Surviving in a Strange, Two Legged World"... · 9:19pm Jul 27th, 2014
I've been doing a lot of thinking about the fate of "Surviving in a Strange, Two-Legged World". Okay, that's a lie. The only thing I've been doing a lot of is drinking and fishing. But I have been thinking about it some. It's always bugged me that I never finished it when there are people out there who like the story.
The fact that it wasn't up to my standards was the main reason that it died and went to limbo. I was just being selfish, and the fact that people wanted to see how it ended should have played a bigger role in my decision. So I'm resurrecting it.
Hold on, I haven't discussed the caveats yet.
The main reason that I haven't been writing recently, besides the drinking and fishing, is that I've been working on another story. It's a romance long shot with lots of TwiRa (Twilight X Lyra). It's a bit darker than this one, but it's coming out very well. The thing is, I'm not going to publish it before it's finished. It's at 20k words currently, and I anticipate it being around 50k when it's finished. This story is my current priority. As soon as this story is finished, I'll work on "Surviving" full blast. But I probably won't be updating every week, like I used to; that schedule was killing me.
To show my appreciation for your patience, I'm going to publish a new chapter of "Surviving" in about two weeks.
(I just have to read it first, cause I forgot what happened.)
I was literally considering posting a comment on it asking if you were bringing it back just the other day, but I didn't because I know that would most likely be annoying.
So glad to see you're starting it up again. I missed reading it every Friday. Thanks, sir, you have made my Sundays better than it already was
Glad to hear you're not letting the story die.
Also, a 50k one-shot? Uhh...yeah...PLEASE break that down into chapters when you post it.
God bless you, child. God bless you.
Edit: I just realized you're older than me....oops?

I'm probably going to release a chapter a week for that story. I'm writing it all at once so that I can backtrack if I change my mind about an aspect of it and so I can ensure that it will be finished before anyone starts to read it.

And how exactly did you realize I was older than you? I don't recall having my age on my userpage...

Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately, even when I'm finished the other story and focusing on this one, it'll probably still be more along the lines of a biweekly update.
2321558 Ahh, OK. The "long shot" part threw me off. Usually people only use that term when they're talking about a single-chapter story that's between 10-20k words.
But yeah, I hear you on that. That's kind of what I'm doing with my "secret" project Heliotoxin. Exactly three people (possibly four) are going to see ANY of that before I complete it.

I always thought that "long-shot" meant multiple chapters and "one-shot" meant one. I'm not the most learned on fanfic vernacular.
2321593 A long-shot is a one-shot that's really long.
2321558 I feel ya there. Writing to a small time frame makes writing more stressful and eventually, less enjoyable. I've hit that wall myself.
