60 Follower One Minute Special! · 3:58pm Jul 24th, 2014
I still think this is justified seeing as I think at least half of you followed me for my One minute Series. Even if you didn't though, I thank you for having supported me this far, and as always, promise to continue producing high quality fanfiction. Now enough of that general stuff, I have series that went from silly shipfics to something completely else, at least in my head. I'll be using big titles and such, so you can skip what you don't want to read.
How this began.
So as you can tell, my first One Minute was Impact. However, how I came up with it is a story full of tragedy and woe! At least for Falls and Follies.
Back then I didn't consider myself a creative type. If I had an idea, I would need to stick with it because I wouldn't be able to come up with anything else. However, after a thorough tearing apart of a Black and Red Alicorn OC that WAS (if I ever rewrite it he is gone) going to be in it. This sent me into a spiral of depression as I tried to figure out how to fix this grievous mistake.
However, that next morning I had JROTC Indoor Triathlon practice. Don't know the acronym? Don't worry, its not relevant here! However, knowing the event will help. The Indoor Triathlon is done in three ten minute sprints with five minute rests between the swim and bike, and bike and run. During the swim though, so people know how much longer they have, we have people called counters. These guys scream out the number (though I wanted to beat the shit out of my counter most of the time), but the warning everyone made absolute sure was heard was, one minute.
My brain was on fire, remembering the shipping game Flint Sparks told me about the day before. It grabbed an idea of taking that thrill of the one minute left feeling and the terror that came with it, and added romance to it. Hence the academy test Rainbow was in. The rest is almost history, seeing as it still took a bit for me to actually solidify the idea, but int hat same day I came up with the premises for Parties and Chaos without realizing that this would be what I wrote over the next three weeks. However, that is the end of the origin story to the One Minute Series.
Dooming Myself
Even though I dislike quitting on a personal note because I cannot get behind the fic because of how short and rushed it is (anyone make a comparison to The Will to Wane will be shot), it was crucial to what has happened. It was a sequel, a sequel based off a prompt, but a sequel nonetheless. It was simply using a ship I had before and furthering the relationship, and it made me realize that I wanted this to go further and that my Jumbled mind wanted
Sequels!
I swear I'm working on them, and I swear I have plenty of ideas for them. Should you expect half a dozen for each couple? Not even close. I don't plan on giving anything away about the ones I have planned, but I am in the middle of one that I am just having problems writing. Then again, I am trying to write a character I believe is one of my weaker in another role we haven't quite seen them in. And yes, I was careful to give a hard clue instead of saying him or her. A warning before a question, and that is that none of my One Minute Sequels will have One Minute in them unless they focus on setting up a romance, seeing as that was what the One Minute Romances were about, setting up relationships. Now I'm moving forward with the relationships and dropping the name with it. I also don't have plans to make any new couples for a while (though I give no promises) and therefore have a question for all of you. Out of the five shippings I've done (ScooTiara, ButtonBelle, FlutterCord, CheesePie, and FireDash) which one do you want to see a sequel for first.
Final Thoughts
As I said, I am very happy you all came to join me, and I do blame my One Minute series for at least part of my fame and gusto in writing. However, I worry that I have built it up in my mind and that causes me to really fear what will happen if I screw up like I did with Quitting. That, and my Skype chat distracts me. I do enjoy writing these though, and hope that you will enjoy whatever comes out of my madness. I do have one last question, and that is pretty much playing the shipping game with me. Who do you want to read me ship, or at least hear what concept I would have for the shipping? Anyways, I've taken enough of your time, and my own. I'm off to continue doing what I do best, make content.
Basket Case must be shipped.
