10 Stories! · 6:57pm Jul 8th, 2014
Alright, so what will I cover here since this is going to e kinda long. First I will rate the stories /10 for which ones I like the most and feel proudest about being a 10/10. I will also include a description as to the rating and probably a little information on the stories background. Then I will talk about what might be expected of the next ten stories, and I might include a few giggles in between.
Self-Rating (Ready your Pitchforks)
Falls and Follies of a Princess: 2/10
Ah, my first fic. Inspired by a ridiculous idea of rebellion I had this fic will probably never see the light of day again. It was my first story and that means a lot to me anyways, even with my shitty Discordic Spirit black and red OC that never saw the light of fanfiction. Luckily, a charming little parody story had me question wether I would get hate and I turned to a recent source of inspiration, the Twilight's Library skype chat. After a night full of ranting on why this was okay, the idea was scrapped and a rewrite of 10+ chapters was to begin. A rewrite that never came partially because of
One Minute to Impact: 3/10
The start of the One Minutes! I won't actually talk much about this one, but I will comment that I learned a lot and it was what started my close relationship with my One Minute editor Ameribrony. He is probably the one person on the site who has taught me more then anything else and praised me on the one thing some of you probably like, willingness to write. That frantic need to write led to the next quick release of
One Minute of Chaos: 9/10
If for nothing else then it's rampant acceptance, this is one of my favorite stories. It would be lower if not for the guidance given by Sir Truffles within the Twilight's Library rejection chat and later acceptance into the actual folders of said group. It literally just got to 1000 views which is my first story to do so! This was my second One Minute and I am immensely proud of it. My main worry while writing this was Rarity. I am terrified whenever I have to write Rarity or Fluttershy, and I was lining myself up to have to handle both. Luckily, it seems like I did a good job, and it was a lot of fun.
One Minute for Parties: 6/10
This was almost the opposite to Chaos. I started this almost immediately after I published Chaos and found myself with a writing itch for a common idea for me and Pinkie. She has a hard time loving. Seeing as she loves so many ponies, the idea of a serious romance might be beyond her while she is young, and Cheese's 5-10 more years of experience allows him to know the difference between hanging out and love. Unfortunately, mainly because I'm not that great at slow steady dialogue and it always feels rushed to me during important parts, it came out awkward and a little jumbled up. It was fun though, and I'm happy with how it turned out regardless.
Odyssey to Canterlot: 5/10
This would be higher if it weren't for the emotional beat down it has put me through. I'm not happy with all of the things I did to attempt to get the story seen, but that doesn't mean I'm not happy with the story. I still like it, and even though I now change it to hiatus, I do hope to continue it someday. As for its background, it came from strange places. Part of it of course was finishing Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. The other half comes from immature thoughts about a masseuse that gave full body massages. Hence, the character Vital Point was created, but I honestly don't know where the rest of the idea came from. In fact, at the beginning, Vital was supposed to be a somewhat happy character, not the serious man he became. However, I did enjoy writing it, and do hope to continue it some other time.
Quitting: 1/10
Though not terrible, I feel no pride in this story. It exemplifies what is wrong on my stories with somewhat forced conflict and even more forced dialogue then normal. However, I blame my constant want for attention and justification that my hobby is worth anything that this was created, and the ending still is one I like, especially since this was the first time I had actually given thought to a sequel One Minute, and as I said, I still don't believe it broke my promise to create high quality fanfiction. It just also didn't turn out that great.
One Minute to THE GAME!: 8/10
One of the funnest things I have ever written, it mixed in so many of my loves, mainly video games and a Sweetie Belle that gives instant diabetes. It was long, but it wasn't like I slogged through any of it, that was just the nature of the beast. Out of all my shippings, this and TaCo are probably the only two that I consider true OTPs. And probably also Fluttercord. What was really big about this one was the fact that this was the one that made me admit that the One Minutes were bigger then simple One Shots I was making underneath a simple tagline. With a cameo from FireDash and a hint at Scootiara, I accepted that more were going to be made, and that sequels would enter my mind.
One Minute between Enemies: 4/10
AND THEN THIS HAPPENED! WHAT THE F***! This was a story that came to my mind initially as a joke almost all the way back at Chaos. However, the more I thought about it, the more I like the idea. But then I spent at least two weeks trying to actually finish the story in a way I liked, and then longer to find an editor, and even LONGER for the cover art which then needed revision. Overall, this story became an unfortunate headache, and I haven't really been ready to write another One Minute story since. Hopefully, that changes soon.
One's Responsibilities to their Family: 7/10
First, Nathaniel chapters are hard to write to be honest. Getting past that, this is my first published clop fic. My first clop fic has been written for a collab that still is being lazy and needs to get its butt into gear, but I digress. The second is BosomLight, which I need cover art for. Back to the fic, it has the darkness and convolution that I love, and that makes it a joy to think about. Not only that, but it is the first time in a long time where I have just been getting constant bursts of writing spirit and getting my ideas out at almost light speed. Anyways, if you don't like dark stuff, you won't like this story at parts, but it also has my normal mix of comedy within along with some sappy romance parts.
Jumbled's Game: 10/10
When I say writing spirit, nothing beats this story. Finished in six hours after conception, it mixes two loves of mine, Yu-Gi-Oh and MLP, even though I no longer actually play Yu-Gi-Oh. It is also the first story that has Jumbled at all. Does this mean I will do more stories with Jumbled? Maybe, but only if I really need to vent and write something absolutely silly. As for the fic itself, I loved writing it, I loved the idea, and I loved the duel within. Inspired by this song, Jumbled's Game is one of my proudest stories, even if it took a month and a half to finally publish it.
Into the future!
As you all know, I am working on Responsibilities right now. However, I may take a break for another story stuck in my head for a while after I get done with chapter 6 of Responsibilities. All I will say is that it is One Minute related, and I want to see if I can start a comment war by asking, which pairings do you want to see continued, and which ones need to die a horrible flaming death? Also, so I can improve, hit me with all you've got with criticisms that you possibly have for me, not only as a writer, but as a person from these blog posts.
Other stories.
First, my two collabs. I have stated that I'm a part of collabs before but in both I am the only one to have finished shit. Yay for being productive! But seriously, one is a story being done by multiple different authors and being spearheaded by the ever talented Flint Sparks. The other one is the collab between Myself, Dementia Ravenmane, and Auramane. That second one is the clop fic collab, and I'm excited about when it finally gets out. However, we might need a new artist seeing as our current one has been a little flaky. I warn anyone interested, we have a big idea for this cover art. Anyways, the future includes a lot of writing, so look forward to it, even if it continues to be mainly romance and/or dark. See you in my next story, and hopefully I'll be around for a twenty story thing if I decide to do something like that.
My Little Critic: Self-Rating is Magic!
