    2018 Resolution

A few hours early, but I figured I would write this while I have some free time instead of squeezing it in when I don't.

    Holiday Story Dec 2016

2 years ago today, I wrote a story called Cold Outside. It didn't get much reception, but I still read it sometimes for the feels. I was looking at it again, seeing as the holidays were coming up, and I wanted to write a follow up part. Last year I wrote some human holiday thing that didn't end up very well. I wanted to delete that story because it didn't feel like a story. I hadn't, mostly

Burn the Nest · 4:00am Jul 1st, 2014

One day I was outside, (I think I was getting ready to mow the lawn) and I heard chirps, lots of them. I noticed they were louder the closer I was to the tree in my lawn, and realized there was a bird's nest inside. (It was literally inside, and their were holes in the sides where I saw the parents poke their heads in.)
Now, normally I would have dismissed it and walked away without caring, but today was different. I was feeling pretty irritated after some bad league of legends games, and I didn't take too kindly to the noise.
I pondered what would happen if I poured water in the holes, or set the tree on fire. Then, I was hit with some kind of magical thought. I remembered hearing that birds and most other animals think rationally. If I endangered the chicks, the parents would try to rescue them IF they were able to.
But, say I lit the nest on fire. The birds wouldn't try to save the chicks if it wasn't possible, and they wouldn't want to get hurt over something they didn't need to. I know that some parents would run into burning buildings to risk their lives and save their children, and that got me thinking even more.
Say the chick survived miraculously, and the parents had thought it for dead. Who would the chick blame, the one who set the nest ablaze, or the parents that left it behind?
So I ask, if you were left behind to die, who would you hold the biggest grudge against?

(*New Story) Keep an eye out for what happens when you Burn the Nest.
