Well, happy holidays anyway!
I had to skip most of the festivities today since I'm battling one heck of a cold. But having an empty house means that I can sit around and write like a maniac! So that's what I did.
I'm up to chapter 3 on my next story. At the pace I'm going, I should have it wrapped up by the end of the week. This is going to be MUCH longer than Interview With a Princess... at three chapters, I've just barely gotten the story going, and I'm already at 8,000+ words, compared to my previous story's 12k or so. At the rate things are going, I wouldn't be surprised if I got over 40k words. Still not long enough to be epic, but as this is my second fic, I'm still trying to hit my stride.
Once I get this one, I have an idea for a follow up to Interview, which I may work on next (or I may not... ask me in a week!) It all depends on whether or not the initial idea I came up with can pan out in my mind to a full story. I don't have an ending yet. If I manage to think of one, then that's my next project. If not... Well, I have other ideas I can work on in the interim.
Thanks for reading, and I hope the holidays (if you celebrated them) were full of joy and laughter! Or, if not, then at least full of ponies, which is joy and laughter in itself :)
Ok. Here's the thing about writing while battling a cold. I pumped out a LOT of words over the last few days. That's the good.
The bad is that it's not as cohesive as I thought it was when I was writing it.
And the ugly? MAJOR rewrites needed. The core idea is one I like, and I like the characters, but man, I did a lousy job with the story! So much for having this done by Sunday.
Anyway, I'd rather take the time to do this right.
