Hello, my little ponies. I have not died. My computer did, or, at least, it did so halfway.
I have worked evil magic upon it in order to bring you this post. I have a smartphone, which could have enabled me to post on this blog during the interim, but typing for any length on an iPhone is tantamount to being physically tortured, for me.
Another sticking point is that my phone tends to require a few seconds to catch up with my fingers. I type quite fast. No bragging there, as I am under the impression that a large number of the population is capable of doing the same. In fact, it's now mandatory, for most desk-type jobs, that the employee must type quickly.
So, yes, evil magic. Or, rather, I removed the CPU's heatsink, slathered the CPU itself in a minute dab of thermal paste - Antec Formula 6, for those of you who are interested, and put the heatsink back.
That cured the overheating problem, but the Power Supply Unit is on the blink - quite seriously, as of this moment I am writing this, the case LEDs and the fan LEDs blink and dim from time to time which usually happens just before the PSU dies. I've had to replace the PSU before, so I'm familiar with these symptoms.
I opened the case again and checked all of the PSU's wires, so I'm quite sure I didn't haphazardly pull some wires loose, nor have I carelessly fouled the motherboard.
I plan to replace the PSU later, just not right now, as I am already quite busy with many other tasks that also require my undue attention - mostly things to do with my education, my employment, and, of course, my housing.
In the meantime, I'll see what I can do with things as they are. I've already been out of the loop for two weeks or more than that.
