[Spoilers] Season 4 Finale, as Rambled to The Wizard of Words

That was pretty cool.

And now for some obligatory complaints!

I really didn't like the Rainbow transformation. Not only was it unnecessary (and a blatant money grab by Hasbro, ofc), but the color schemes and designs are terrible. Just, so gross.

Twilight should have been a hell of a lot more pissed off at that destruction of knowledge.

Giving Spike a little throne next to Twilight's is practically a demeaning joke. Fuck that. Also, if they hold court in a circle, they're going to ominously tower over any petitioner on all sides. Really, six thrones in a court is too much, and in a circle is even worse.

I'd love a fanfic rewrite that fixes plot holes, fleshes it out some more, and in general makes it better. Discord's betrayal was particularly dimwitted, he had the freedom to do whatever he wanted save harming ponies and their livelihood. It would have been more interesting if Discord was at least planning to backstab Tirek and keep Fluttershy pristine by his side while enveloping the world in chaos (friendstalker level material here, woah). Seriously, Discord isn't supposed to be this stupid.

As for Twilight's "Kingdom..."

Well, a town ain't no fuckin' kingdom. And for another thing, Ponyville wouldn't be made separate from Equestria. There's no way that's happening. Twilight is in no way equal to the Princesses, she's at least one level lower. I'd say she's more of an Archduke, and Ponyville and the surrounding areas are her duchy.

It was really disappointing that the Castle of the Two Sisters wasn't what became Twilight's castle. Also, the tree castle is a fucking eyesore, and its branches aren't wide enough.

The fight between Twilight and Tirek was awesome, if badly backdropped. The final climax with the Rainbow Power bullshit was disappointing as well, just the Elements of Harmony 2.0. It's not an action show, what ya gonna do. When the flash of light surrounded them and they disappeared, I was really hoping they fused into some sort of Harmony Overmind. If Tirek knew about the Tree of Harmony, that would have been much more interesting, and then once they open the chest, boom, no more Tirek.

Also the Princess' song should not have repeated the chorus. That was supposed to be relevant story shit, not Bad Seedesque pop.

Maybe I should write this fixfic.

Agreed on pretty much everything.

The castle, especially. I guess the Two Sisters' wouldn't have made for a good enough playset.

It seems like that with every series, the show diverges further and further from the original premise, and I'm not sure if I like it. There are just too many shiny bits now, and not enough foundation.

I'd be very interested to read a rewrite if you wrote one.

Plastic playsets are the original premise. All the stuff that's actually likable are additions the writers managed to make when executives were distracted.
