    Currently away

Hey, this is ErraticOverlord's friend. He wanted me to send out this blog post because he broke his arm while doing something stupid, so he's at the hospital and away from a computer.

    URGH SICKNESS

I've been completely flat on my back sick for the last several days, so I haven't been able to finish the next chapter of SMU and me, yet. You can expect it in the next few days, but I'm really sorry I haven't been able to do it.

    It's Wednesday!

And that means an update! On Just SMU and me.

I'm going to put the chapter up a bit later today because I woke up very sick, but I'll be darned in lead socks before I give up on updating every Wednesday one week after I gave the proclamation I would.

Just be warned that the last bit of the chapter might be completely nonsensical, so you should tell me if that happens.

    Bringing you up to speed

So some of you may have noticed my sudden disappearance, followed by prolonged absence. The short version of this is that I had quite a lot of things to do and, when they were finished, suffered from horrible writer's block, partly brought on by my complete disappointment in trying to watch the fourth season.

I'm alive! · 9:35pm May 2nd, 2014

Boy, where have I been, huh?

Well, my finals are over and it looks like Summer break is starting soon. I'm terribly sorry I've been gone for so long but I've been doing classwork as well as starting a few new hobbies but, again, I'm sorry I've been gone. I will say that you really don't know how many people you influence until you disappear for a while; while I've been missing (I also had to go out of town, suddenly) I've been contacted by pretty much everyone I know, asking what's happened to me.

I have seen some new movies since the last time I was on, though, and I thought I would share my thoughts with you.

1. Megamind: At the request of one of my friends a while ago, I rented and saw the movie 'Megamind'. What did I think? Actually, I liked it; my surprise comes from my friend who, regrettably, has pretty bad taste in movies. The plot was nice, the humor was good, and I can count this as one of the few movies I enjoy Will Ferrel in. I really don't have much else to say about it. Thumbs up.
Favorite line: "Ha ha ha, great story, and beautifully told, by the way. Now you tell one."

2. Thor: The Dark World: While I thought that the first movie was okay, it didn't really 'wow' me, which was disappointing. I thought the pacing was pretty bad and I didn't much like the character of Thor. The Avengers certainly improved my view of his character and I was fond of him in that. Nevertheless, I came into his sequel with rather low expectations. What did I think? I absolutely loved this movie. While bits of the premise and execution are kind of shaky, I still really enjoyed seeing particularly Loki again. I thought that this movie exceeded my expectations by a large margin and for that I am very pleased.
Favorite line: "I understand there will be a line for that."

3. Captain America 2: Rise Of The Winter Soldier: I will admit I'm not intimately versed in the Captain America comics, but I definitely knew who and what the Winter Soldier was and I was excited to see the movie, particularly after thoroughly enjoying the last one. What did I think? *Sigh* regrettably, I was unimpressed. Contrary to the second Thor movie, I came in to Captain America 2 with very high expectations which the movie failed to meet. After watching the movie, I conclude that Captain America 2 is a Bond film... exactly... to a tee. Does this mean the movie is bad? Certainly not, Bond films are hugely popular movies. They're just not my cup of tea and I didn't see any of the other new Marvel movies that way.
Favorite line: "On your left."

4. Summer Wars: I don't know how popular this movie is but I saw it, so it's here. Summer Wars is an anime movie in much the same style as 'Our War Game'. What did I think? It was pretty good. The characters were likable, the effects were pretty impressive, the premise was nice. I'm not sure. I suppose that since I'm in the middle of Death Note everything was subconsciously compared to that. ie. "Ooh, I like that character! But that L guy, though." I think that may have dampened its effect on me.
Favorite line: "It's only a game if you don't care about it."

5. Frozen: Ah, the illustrious Disney film. Truly, a large part of these movies are works of art. The question is, is this one? What did i think? The answer is yes. Disney's Frozen is a very good movie which took a lot of risks, most of which paid off. By far, the best thing about this movie was the thing I thought would be the worst thing (what?): the lovable snowman named Olaf. From the early commercials featuring nothing but Sven and Olaf, I imagined I would absolutely despise this character. I figured it would just be a very annoying Disney mistake. What I got was just the nicest and most innocent of Disney characters in quite a while. Hats off to you, Disney. You made me not hate him.
Favorite line: "IT'S TRUE LOVE!"

So those are the movies I've seen in the interim. I'm sorry I've been gone, but I'm glad I'm back.

Post your own thoughts of these movies or different ones in the comments below, if you'd like, or just post something random you wanted to share.
