Just your average british lad. I write things for a living. It’s the strangest living you’ll ever find, second only to my inability to take myself off of the grid.

Shadow Reviews, Episode 10: Trade Ya · 8:06pm Apr 19th, 2014

First off, sorry that it's later than usual this time. I was at Alton Towers today with my family and cousins. Speaking of which, The Smiler is my new favourite Roller Coaster. Just thought I should state that.

Firstly, it is great that we're seeing more of Rainbow Falls, I initially thought it was gonna be a one shot when I saw Sleepless In Ponyville, but it turns out I was wrong when Season 4 came out. It is nice to see more of this quiet little village with literal Rainbow Waterfalls, but other than that, Ponies trade for a lot of bizarre crap here. I mean, the fricking Discord Lamp!!! That was a nice call back, seeing as Keep Calm And Flutter On was my first MLP episode. But other than that, it's also nice to see more mythical creatures in Equestria, the Orthros was no exception.

But then that leads me onto another plotline, apparently Applejack and Rarity have no idea on whether a faster cooking pie tin is any better than a double of Rarity's shiny crap. I mean come on, it's pretty clear what the obvious choice is here. But obsessing over these two things, essentially leading to a pointless arguement with the two ponies, made me kind of hate this episode. I mean COME ON ladies!!! It's the easiest choice in the F**king world!!!

Finally, Twilight's sudden change of mind on whether or not she wanted those books in the first place was kind of out of place in my opinion. I mean, if you don't want something, you should get rid of it for a decent sum of money in my world (Earth) but at least Pinkie was still on top of her game in this episode. She's definitely getting some golden moments as we come closer and closer to the season we're on at the moment. Especially after her abysmal Filli Vanilli scenes.

Trade Ya, is in my opinion, a decent episode and one with a good bit of laughs in it as well. Despite the dragged out plotlines that could easily have been resolved and the crazy things that everypony wanted to trade for, it was good, good but not great. The humour was a bit stale at some scenes, but there was still some memorable moments that I won't forget anytime soon. But in the end, everyone gets what they wanted from some weird resolution convenience that should have been brought out earlier.

But if there's anybody/anypony that has some rare MLP merchandise and likes this episode...

I'll Trade Ya this episode for it.

My score: 7/10
I don't think Scott Sonneborn is even trying after this one.

NEXT WEEK'S REVIEW: Inspiration Manifestation
Expect classic Rarity whingeing and whining for this episode.

Especially after her abysmal Filli Vanilli scenes.

What? She was totally in character there. Flutterhsy just need to get a backbone already

2048398 Acting as the voice of doom and making Fluttershy cry is not "In Character" in my books

2048430 She wasn't the voice of dom. She just said what she was thinking (Which is in character for her).
