Just your average british lad. I write things for a living. It’s the strangest living you’ll ever find, second only to my inability to take myself off of the grid.

Shadow Reviews, Episode 9: Testing, Testing, 1, 2, 3 · 3:17pm Apr 5th, 2014

Well, it's gonna be a month until Devastation comes out for COD Ghosts, I'm out of school for the Easter holidays and besides using my early access Ripper SMG/AR to tear up the enemy teams, what else can I do to pass the time? Hmmmmmm......

Oh yes, the episode reviews! It almost slipped my mind. Let's begin.

First off, I didn't even know the Wonderbolts even had a history to begin with. I guess that Equestria is even older than I thought, but first off, Dash needs to tackle her greatest foe yet; Studying!!! Dun Dun DUUUUUUUNNNNNNN!!! That's right, Season 4 is establishing this. But first off, Dash is clearly suffering from a short attention span due to Twilight's methods, seems plausible enough. I sometimes don't even know what I'm supposed to be learning either, there are just so many Indian gods that it's hard for me to pick up on all that knowledge so, I'm right there with ya, Dashie.

But when it turns out that nothing that Twilight does is giving any help, Fluttershy throws what is, in my opinion, the shittiest F**king play I've ever seen. I mean, come on!!! I've been to see Oakgrove School's adaptation of Bugsy Malone for christ's sake and I found that to be better than this!!! While it was a minor burn to the plot, they quickly turned it around with Pinkie. Apparently, Pinkie knows 80's rap when she has to learn something, I was going to question why but, it's Pinkie Pie, best not to question things. After a brief Hearth's Warming Eve reference, Dashie flies off and develops Maud Pie/Zor syndrome. That's a thing now, deal with it.

Finally, I question the grand finale part, with apparently all of Ponyville pitching in to help Dashie, I mean, talk about overkill. Furthermore, Fluutershy, Rarity, that's not how it went at all!!! Remember Princess Twilight Part 2? There was a Laser-Off scene similar to Harry Potter and many other things like it! Get it right!!! But still, it does eventually pay off in the end and Dashie aces her examination, making everything seem happy and good. I bet Season 5 will dig deeper into her Wonderbolt career in the future, I bet, that doesn't mean I'm right.

Overall, the conflict and setup was good and quite flexible, everyone has their own paces and tracts for learning and sometimes trying to give them a different tract can evidently lead to their demise in the academic society. The humour was good if not perfect, and there could have been some other things to keep me laughing, but it's my opinion, not yours and everyone has an opinion. Finally, the pacing of this episode seemed a little off and it could have had more time to establish the plot, but overall, it was good, not good good, but good nontheless.

My final score lies at a flexible 7/10
Could have been better, is all I'm saying.

NEXT WEEK'S REVIEW: Trade Ya
