Yes, I'm alive and JBL is getting the next chapter for translation in the next hours.

I waited a little bit because I wanted this to be finished first, cause it's relevant in said chapter:

    Windows Update

As some of you may have heard, the Windows 10 October Update has a very big flaw.

    I got to experience it.

I lost a lot of data and while I have backups, they are a month old or even more. I'll need a week
to work on the next chapter of Journey, again. Sorry folks, but this time, blame Microsoft...

    I was busy

As I stated in the authors note in the latest chapter of Journey, I took a break from said story. After working for so long on the same project, I needed to do something else. The results were "Love Conquers All" and it's sequel. But I did write a lot more. Mostly only one or two chapters of a concept for a new story. One of those I want to share with you guys today. I already talked about this

Attention to all those special snowflakes out there: This will probably hurt your feelings. So grab your safety blanket / pillow / peacock and be prepared because here is the harsh truth: If you're constantly a massive asshole, someone will eventually snap and you get what you deserve. This is so cliché... · 2:26pm Mar 30th, 2014

Well, after I read a story a few days ago I started thinking again.
If you would look through my favorite stories you will note I read a lot of "Human in Equestria" stories. I most likely could claim to have at least read a few chapters of every good one that exists on this page. I know, I have too much free time.

Anyway, I read this story and it hat a good start, but as fast as I could blink it turned into the most generic "Human in Equestra" story. "Hero" is turned into a pony, 4 out of 6 from our beloved mane cast (see what I did there :P) fall deeply in love with only after knowing for a few days top and so on. He get injured nearly every moment and so on. Then the moment came were I thought: "Thats so cliché..."

I paused.

Why? OK, besides the love thing and everything it was just another HiE (Human in Equestria) story. Franky goes to Hollywood, meets Mane6, befriends them and so on. But why is that a cliché? Because it is the most likely turn of events of what would happen if it really would happen. (Thats sentence sounds weird ^^)
But think for a moment, back to the Zecora episode. Did they fear her because she was black (like LunaNightmare Moon) a zebra or did they fear her because she was a cloaked stranger with glowing eyes who lived in one of the most dangerous places known to ponykind?

If you write with a character preset, like the Mane6, you have only so many options how the character can react to any given situation. So I think that if a human being would walk into Ponyville with everyday clothing he wouldn't be feared. Is he a omnivore? Yes, but Gilda was too. So if he doesn't have 1001 weapons on his belt the most likely thing that would happen to him is that a well known pink pony would greet him with her welcome wagon. After that it would mostly play out like in every slice of life human in Equestria story. He gets to know the mane 6 on his welcome party (if he befriends them is a totally different story) and so on. Only exception in this would a alternative universe story.

I hope you get the idea. If you write a human in Equestria story or read one, don't expect to much from the start. There is not much an author can do without breaking character. A really good HiE story shines throughout the story, with a good plot. When that isn't the case... Let's just say you don't have to read it. Just tell the author you opinion and leave. And if its really bad, there are also two thumbs somewhere to press. Which one you press is up to you.

Thats all for today,
see you again folks.

You know, It's always irritated me when ponies, especially the Mane6 are scared of omnivores/carnivores. Most of them LIVE with one; Applejack has Winona, Rarity has Opal, Pinkie has Gummy, Twilight has Owlowiscious (and maybe Spike) and Fluttershy has... a lot. That means the only one that doesn't have to keep dead animals in her house to feed her pet is Rainbow.

P.S. I'm kinda sad that you don't have any of my stories on your favorite list. Oh well.

It's not like I never seen some of your work, but I'm really not a fan of "over-the-top DBZ level action" as you put it. I often have a discussion with exact that topic with a friend of mine. He is a huge fan of stuff like that. Attacks who can eliminate a whole planet and so on. I'm more the opposite. I don't think strength of attacks matter, more like how you use them.

1967868 However there is a difference between a sapient carnivore/omnivore and a non-sapient one. There are some vegetarians/vegans who argue against humans who eat meat, but have you have seen a single one who was arguing against animals who eat meat?

1968979 Actually, yes I have. There are a few out there that think cats and dogs should eat synthetic foods

However there is a difference between a sapient carnivore/omnivore and a non-sapient one.

You're right. You can reason with the sapient one. Besides, they still wouldn't be disgusted by an omnivorous diet, even if they think it's wrong.

1968755 Aww, that's too bad. Oh well, to each their own.

You make a fair point, but I'd say that the denizens of Ponyville can be interpreted as either A) more skittish than normal ponies, or B) jaded by the world-ending phenomena that happen to their town on an almost weekly basis. It would be a fair interpretation to think that an unknown creature would signal one of these said "world-ending phenomena" and cause a panic. They do tend to panic quite frequently. And they also don't look past face-value most of the time (as exemplified in S4E20).

Either way, I think that your interpretation is valid. But I also think that the idea of mass panic would be valid as well. It just depends on how your able to reason it for me. If you give me a good enough reason for why X did Y, then I'll even forgive a breach of character if the reason is good enough.

this is a show you know...

I think many of us think of how most hie stories turn into that crap but your one of the first to accurately blog about it.
