Just your average british lad. I write things for a living. It’s the strangest living you’ll ever find, second only to my inability to take myself off of the grid.

Shadow's Game Related Review #1: inFAMOUS Second Son · 7:46am Mar 24th, 2014

Who said it was just Pony-related stuff I do?

But still, I'm gonna start doing game reviews as well from now on. And what better way to start this off, than with the granddaddy of power; inFAMOUS Second Son (PS4 Only)

First of all, I do love the overall graphics of Second Son. They look so realistic when compared to the first two inFAMOUS games. You can actually see the sunlight and shadows streaking down onto the ground and overall, I like it.

The next thing I want to address is the Karmic Shift Meter, It's changed from what I'm accustomed to, but it's still following the same principal as the first games. Sure it now takes five phases to get to Infamous or whatever the last hero ranking is (I only played Darkness) But still, It's nice that we get to see this added in.

Next, I want to talk about the Blast Shards. They don't increase the amount of energy you can carry anymore, instead they're used for shopping for upgrades and stuff. Stuff like, increase your power capacity, improved powers, special boosts to your dash power, and so on. That's a nice touch.

Also, the fact that Delsin can hijack the powers of other Conduits is what kept me going with this. I always liked Cole Macgrath in the first two inFAMOUS games, but I thought maybe his powers were getting a little overused, so to see Delsin being able to use a multitude of powers ranging from a multitude of elements, is stunning!

I also want to address the powers that Delsin can use. First off you get smoke from a guy named Hank, the next is Neon from Fetch, thirdly is Video from Eugene. And finally, you can assimilate concrete powers from the game's villain, Augustine. So, these powers give you a wide variety of attacks and destruction tactics as you either rampage through Seattle, or save it from demise.

Now, Augustine is what surprised me. She's seen as a Conduit-napper, just to make money? WTF boys?! That seemed like a dumb move on your part!!! I mean I've seen some crazier money making schemes with other villains that had better plans than that. But then again, she did say that, apparently, it was supposed to save conduits from being wiped out.

Now I'm not one to make suspicions, but If Delsin could take powers from other conduits, why couldn't Cole do that in the first two games? Some may say that then it would have been too easy, but I digress, in fact, I would have expected the enemy to get even tougher if Cole was able to sap powers from Sasha or Alden or even Bertrand.

Then we've got the district clearing scheme. They've given it a massive overhaul from completing side missions. Instead you've gotta steal Blast Shards, find audio logs, vandalize the town with spray paint and stencils, find and kill a D.U.P. agent disguised as a townsfolk, take down the moblie monitoring unit and cameras, and wrap it all up with a special District Showdown. I do love the District Showdowns, mainly because it's a true test of skill, trying to fight off all those D.U.P. agents at once. But with Orbital Drop, Radiant Sweep or Hellfire Swarm, it's all too easy.

Overall, this game is a massive improvement from the first two inFAMOUS games, the visuals were a feast for the eyes, the music was stunning, the plot was ok, I guess, and finally the powers, OMG the powers!!! With four types of powers at my back, I feel like a f**king demon!!! You'd better watch out, fools, as the lord of the dark powers is coming!!! MUHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!

Final Score: 8/10
It's a good game, definite must have for all PS4 owners. And if you don't have a PS4, BUY ONE NOW!!!
