Brony documentary · 9:14pm Mar 14th, 2014
I'm quite proud of myself. I watched the Brony Documentary today on Netflix, which means that I never gave in to the urge to pirate it no matter how badly I wanted to see it without having to pay for it (because I figured I would only watch it once and I didn't want to pay that much for something that will just collect dust on my shelf) Man, JDL actually managed to make me feel guilty about even thinking of piracy when it came to this particular thing, even though otherwise I'm a pirate and not ashamed. Well played, John.
Anyway, the doc was... okay. It was occasionally awesome and mostly good, but it had pacing issues and a tendency to ramble about unnecessary things. So it was boring at times and made me wonder just how much longer it'll last, because it sure felt like it lasted forever. But yeah, a good watch anyway.
Also, fun facts: I started watching it alone but my mom and dad appeared at some point too (and my baby niece even later). Mom had no problem watching it because while she isn't interested in watching the show she thinks the ponies are cute, conventions are cool and she likes to indulge me. (I'll see if I can make her sit down with me sometime and watch a couple of episodes since at least the first two seasons are on Netflix with Finnish subtitles so she can't whine about it being in English (which she understands just fine btw, she just likes to pretend otherwise so that she doesn't have to bother)).
But with my dad it was more interesting. He showed up before my mom and sat down for a second, then saw the ponies and left like "Yeaaah, not watching this garbage". Then later he came back anyway because he just really wanted to watch the telly so he probably figured he could make me leave by sitting there all "Look, I'm here. Hint hint. Maybe leave? No? Well, I'm still sitting here and staring at you, surely you're thinking of leaving now? No? Okay, I'll shift around and rustle this bag of candies, doesn't that bother you?" I had no intention to be bothered, so I just ignored him and eventually he stopped because he actually started watching the doc for the lack of better things to do. And he stayed there for the rest of the film. He even stopped the little huffs and snorts he did for the first ten minutes, and that was even before my mom came there. So I suppose that maybe it wasn't so awful after all, huh?
TL;DR: JDL can make a sworn Pirate turn Lawful. With Netflix. The Brony Doc is decent, mom liked it too, dad secretly didn't mind it too much.
I was a good girl myself, My mom bought me the blu-ray with the extra bonus features blu-ray. Which was really just Lauren Faust, Tara Strong and John De Lancie interviews. 2 hours of Lauren, half an hour for Tara and one hour for John. Yeesh.
Never the less I watched it ALL.
Mom and I watched the Documentary together. We liked it.
I'm looking forward to the next documentary coming out tho o3o

Is there a plan for another documentary?
Heh, I would totally watch the interviews too if I had the bonus features DVD. If they were on netflix for "free", then I'd probably just watch the JDL one.
1930807 I saw it as such briefly on Equestria Daily. Having a more deep look with the Actors I believe when going to cons?
But not sure.
And yeah, even though I enjoyed the long interviews, John of course was the most fascinating for me.
Other then obvious reasons.I was lucky to watch on youtube before it got flagged. I didn't know it wasn't free until it was taken down.
