I just realized something amigos. (Warning, headcanon time) · 9:55pm Feb 24th, 2014

So this was apparently the inspiration for the Power Ponies line up. Whats that though? Twi was inspired by Cyclops? Well that's not quite right, Twi had multiple types of beam attacks. Or was that the connection?

Stay with me here. What if the Masked Matter-Horn is like Cyclops in another fashion? Maybe Celestia (who already does run a school called 'Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns' in the show) had a student in the comic universe too, one that would one day grow up, learn all she had too, and became an alicorn? What if the ascension proved too much for her? That poor filly may have lost control of her magic all together. Maybe the mask isn't just a costume. Maybe it's an inhibitor so that her power dons't fry everything she points her head at. What if she's now the only Alicorn in Equestria that can't even use her own magic for fear of harming her friends and family?

That's all head canon, true, but it expands wonderfully on this concept for why Twi, a gifted caster normally, was so limited in this episode. Because The True Matter-Horn, let's call her Scooter Summers for now, is so limited. Maybe she can't ever take of the mask, or at least has to wear a restraint all day like Cyclops does. Maybe that's how she met Radiance and thus the Power Ponies, as a way to get out there and help ponies again under the guise of a hero instead of as a tragic princess?

I've wanted to do a Marvel Cross over for a while now, and this idea just sparked something else entirely. I think I'll write a series on the Power Pony universe, exploring them as they might be in the comics (with my little shout out to RariTwi, though I don't think I'll pull a Jean Grey on Rarity). With influences form DC and Marvel, it could be quite the undertaking, so if I do continue, I'll collab this for sure. If you want in, let me know and I'll set it up.

As for that, Twilight is far more along the lines of Doctor Strange than anything else. She dives into magic like noone else. She's pretty much a grand mage in the making.

Applejack can also be Captain Amareica, but Wonder woman works too. And I'm not sure Rarity fits the Green Lantern or any lantern corps for the matter. I'd have to think of something more accurate for her.

1870721 Actually just clarified that Big Jim there is Co-director for season four here, so there's that... yeah. I just liked that idea for Twi, honestly. It adds a little bit of Marvel melancholy to the story, making the universe more whole, I guess.

Besides, this opens it up for Shining Armor as Captain Equestria. Celestia might fit Doctor Strange better, but so would Star Swirl, and as a way to introduce him to the series...

As much as I hated the Power Ponies episode, this sounds pretty legit. 10/10 would read

Thank you. Seriously, that really helps me. I liked Power Ponies, but instead of giving Twilight a reason to be limited, they just nerfed her with no explanation. Like, seriously? She lifted an Ursa Minor across an entire town and half the Everfree Forest, while simultaneously using wind to play it a lullaby and milking an entire barn full of cows to fill the town water tower and using it as a bottle. And that was 59 episodes ago! She's a goddamn alicorn now!
