From now on I'm only going to be writing/going online onto FIMFiction on weekends, so don't expect fics to turn up so frequently... School is legitimately starting and I genuinely won't have so much free time. READ CUTENESS OVERLOAD PLEASE I'M SHAMELESSLY ADVERTISING IT IN ALL MY BLOG POSTS THIS IS AN ALL TIME LOW FOR ME D:
I already read it, faved it, 'liked' it...
If you want, I guess I can help you shamelessly promote it!
1865450 no that's fine! If I want to shamelessly promote my material I'd do it on my own... I won't risk my followers getting insulted for spamming groups on my account.
1865574 Okay!
Nice to see it got to 100 views, though. Why is it that some stories just take off in views and likes and others just... kind of... stall? They still get good ratios, but the number of views just stays stagnant?
For example, one of my stories from over two months ago, a sad fic, only has 46 views. And then, this past Thursday, I posted a new sad fic and in two days, its view count rose to over 700. Why is that?
1865579 Could be a couple of reasons. Maybe fic popularity is dependent on whether mods read it or not... And if the mod is interested then he'll paste it up on the featured box. Or the number of groups you add the story to; some people actually check their group story notifications frequently so there's a chance that more people will read if you spam the groups by adding your story to more and more groups (which is irritating and desperate, but eh, this is the internet so anyone can do anything they want). Or it could be because the time when you posted it was when there was minimal reader traffic. For instance, now's around 9 30 in my country but there are only 900+ users online, as opposed to the norm of 1000 to 2000 users. When there are more readers, your stories get more views so there's a good chance a mod will read it. Or it could be that your story was released alongside another story that was seen by a mod who totally ignored your story and thus drew more attention to that certain story by featuring it, therefore leaving your own to be forever alone. I like to time the release of my fics but honestly, you really have to depend on your approver to release it at a favorable time. And times are usually favorable when I should be asleep.
Well there is another question of generic ideas which people like. E.g. a shipfic between two popular ponies. I see twidash stories really often in the featured box. When people see those two ponies and a romance tag they immediately ignore all other fics.
1865615 It's really funny, though, because I submitted the story for approval, went to class, and logged back on three hours later to find out that it had already gotten on the popular stories list.
It just makes no sense!
I mean, the one story that I spent an entire week making the outline barely got over 150 views!
Oh well, I guess it's just luck of the draw.
Oh yeah, and I did submit those two stories near the same time of the day, and that second story with less than 200 views was a TwiDash fic. Go figure. dl.dropbox.com/u/31471793/FiMFiction/Emoticons/shrug_Twilight_Sparkle.png
1865629 oh yes, congrats on the success of your fic. Would insert a happy twilight emoticon but I'm on mobile phone now :P
