My Unexpected Gift - Chapter Nineteen
Curse of the Bickering In-LawsOne week.
"Oh baby, I'm so proud of you two!"
One week since Bisque arrived to help plan the wedding.
"Oh Soarin', Applejack, I can't wait to cater your wedding!"
One week since his mom said she was catering the reception.
"Not so fast, Bisque! Who says you're gonna be caterin'!"
One week since Granny said otherwise.
"Ah'm caterin'!"
One week has passed...
"No, I'm catering!"
And none of them have gotten a moment of quiet since.
Applejack groaned as she heard Apple Bloom's old baby monitor, waking her up for the third time this night.
Crack!
She piqued her ear towards the one way radio, hoping this time it was snoring. Another groan escaped her lips when she heard the sound of wood on wood. Lethargically, she nudged her lover's head with her own, quietly adding the words "your turn" as she did. Complying through his grogginess, he slowly got out from under the covers, giving his fiancé a small kiss as he did.
Smash!
"Looks like its time to wake up for both of us." the orange farm mare yawned with a stretch before climbing out of bed.
"With relatives like them, who needs kids." grumbled the flyer as they shuffled out the door.
"No, that's mine! Give it back!" pouted Bisque as she tried to grab her pot from her green adversary.
"Oh, does little Bisquie want her wittle pot back?" mocked Granny as the blue mare continued to reach, "Well too bad!"
This was the scene that greeted Soarin' and Applejack when they walked into the kitchen.
The green mare covered in flour and the blue mare with applesauce dripping from her stout, clumps of mane missing from the back of their heads and -the couple hoped- ketchup stained aprons, were fighting around a fallen kitchen chandelier. If this were any inclination, the Battle of Sweet Apple Acres Kitchen had carried on all night, even causing collateral damage to their battlefield. Soarin' looked to AJ and her to him as if silently asking each other what they should do. Finally, after what seemed like a millenium, Soarin' cleared his throat to speak to the two aggressive chefs.
