    On my activity...

...Or rather, the lack of it.

I know I said that I'd get to writing one of my bigger projects this year, and It will happen.
Just don't be surprised if it takes a while.

    Just throwing this out there...

For all of you who follow my account here, or who are just generally interested in the stuff I write, I have a problem: I can't decide which of my longer fics I should work on next. I'll still be doing the thirty minute things whenever I can, because I like doing those, but I do want to get onto a longer-form story, possibly a multi-chapter one.

    NO.

    NO.

    NO.

Unfeminine and Shallow episodes? Are those your reasons for disliking Applejack?

I can take the 'Applejack is best background pony' jokes-they're all in good fun. This, though, has actually made me angry for the first time since joining the fandom.

    New Story!

So, I would imagine some of you wonderful people out there who watch me have thought 'You know, ThunderTempest is kind of alright, but when is he going to stop doing 30-minute shorts, and actually do a story?'

Have no fear, then, because that first story is here!

    It's called Bad Moon Rising.

NO.

NO.

NO.

Unfeminine and Shallow episodes? Are those your reasons for disliking Applejack?

I can take the 'Applejack is best background pony' jokes-they're all in good fun. This, though, has actually made me angry for the first time since joining the fandom.

Shallow episodes? Since when is learning that it's okay to ask for help fucking shallow? Or caring about your family? or that holding to your principles is a bad thing? Or even learning that family is not just blood, but what you want it to be? These are important things, not just to eight to ten year old girls, but to EVERYONE.

Unfeminine? Really? If you want Applejack to be dropped from the show because she's unfeminine, by that logic you should also want Rainbow Dash dropped from the show, because neither of them are 'feminine' by normal standards. Applejack isn't in to all the girly dresses and makeup, and neither should she be. Between her and Rainbow Dash, they're saying to young girls that it's okay to like things that boys do, and that you can be just as good at them as boys are.

Let me tell you a story now. There's this group of friends. there's an overachieving, OCD-riddled, socially naïve nerd; a reckless adrenaline junkie with, at times, a crippling fear of failure; an attention hog designer with mood swings that happen on a dime; another is cripplingly shy and retreats from any and all contact; a manic depressive baker who's self perception is based entirely around how happy everyone else is; and a workaholic, stubborn farmer.

See how normal that last one looks? That's Applejack. Yes, her episodes tend not to be as epic as the other five's do, but that's because she hasn't got the massive character weaknesses that the others do, so there's nothing except her love for her work, her family and her stubbornness to play off, whereas Twilight has a whole host of mental faults to play off. Applejack is the most sane of her group of friends, and because of that, she can come across as boring. But that does not mean that she should be dropped from the fucking show.

Hell, in my opinion, Pinkie Apple Pie was one of the best episodes so far this season, and it's an Applejack episode. So yes. Applejack may not be feminine, but we don't need media telling our future female leaders, scientists, politicians and everything else that they need to stick to the ideal of femininity. There's enough of that in advertising. Applejack says to girls that she is comfortable in who she is, which is frankly, a far more important thing to get them to learn.

ThunderTempest, signing off.

(Reblog over here if you agree with me on this. See if we can get '#stop the AJ hate' trending)

That's what people are saying about Applejack?

What the hell is with the Applejack hate? I happen to like Applejack. Granted, she's not my favorite character from the show, but I still like this character. She's noble, she's honest, she's self-motivated, she's a hard worker, she level-headed, and she always caring about those around her, but is able to stand up for them when she needs too.

My God, I swear Applejack gets more hatred than Celestia does. And it's completely unjustified. (Note I have not seen Season 4 so I don't know how that goes.)

Whoever did this is an idiot, and a bigot, to boot. AJ is one of the coolest (nay, the coolest among the cast, and especially the Mane 6 (sorry, Dash, that's just the way that it is)) ponies on the show, and she happens to be my personal No. 1 fave.

AJ adds much to the show with her courage, her common sense and her innate kind of quiet, home-spun wisdom. Sure, she has her faults, but who the heck doesn't?! She's stubborn, yes, but there have been times that that's served her well. She's loyal (both to her family, her friends (and extended, honorary family), her farm and her hometown. What more could one ask for in anyone, pony or human, than that?

Oh, and let's not forget that, as Twilight's unofficial (but acknowledged) second-in-command, she is the one that takes up the reins of command and leadership when Twi isn't around to do so herself.

Also, it might behoove some people to remember that AJ was the first pony that Twi and Spike met after arriving in Ponyville to really talk to them. (Yeah, I know that they technically met Pinkie first, but all she did was gasp and run off...leaving AJ as the second, but first pony, as I said above, that they really met and talked to.)

The show...better off without our AJ?! I think not.

And consider this reblogged, withy these exact words.

I also added you to my Follow List.

1743144 Thanks for the reblog! Applejack is personally not my absolute favourite pony in the show, and I find her difficult to write at times but I do like her. But what really got me so riled up about that picture was the reasons why the person who made it wanted Applejack dropped. Those are shallow, and some of my favourite episodes over all four seasons have been Applejack episodes.

1743831 You're very welcome! I was happy to do it! I just hope that whoever posted that on Tumblr originally reads and finds out what the majority of us MLP fans think of his/her stupidity.:rainbowdetermined2:

And that's your right. We all have faves among the ponies on the show, and that's as it should be. (How boring would it be if we all liked the exact same pony? Pretty boring, I would think.) Good to hear that you do like her, though.

And I know what you mean when it comes to the difficulty of writing AJ. She's my No. 1 fave, as I've stated on more than a few occasions, and I have trouble writing her, too. Which is kinda weird, since I'm a country gal myself, and tend to understand her better than most folks. That doesn't keep me from having trouble writing her, though.:twilightblush:

Oh, I know. It did me, too, once I saw it.:twilightangry2:

I mean, the "unfeminine" remark was beyond stupid! AJ is a farm-pony, for Pete's sake! She's very athletic and rough-and-tumble, she doesn't mind getting dirty, and herself has stated on more than a few occasions that she's not into all the "frou-frou", girly-type stuff. (Which isn't to say that she doesn't clean up nice when she has to (the Grand Galloping Gala, the Royal Wedding and Twilight's coronation being a few occasions of this), and she's absolutely gorgeous when she does.:ajsmug:

But, by the same token, she, being the sensible, straightforward pony that she is, knows that there's times to be feminine (the three occasions above being case in point), and then there's times not to and to get down-and-dirty...which is 99.9% of the times when she's working. Be it on the Acres, or elsewhere.

And yes, they were, and that's true for me, too. AJ's all kinds of cool, she is.:ajsmug:

Besides...I don't think that we have to worry about the show's producers and staff listening to an ignorant twit like that, and dropping her from the show. I mean, she's one of the Mane 6, and popular in her own right, for crying out loud! Does the nitwit really that she's gonna be dropped from the cast for the reasons that he or she has put in this Tumblr post?! Speaking just for myself.........

I think not.:ajsmug::ajsmug:
