S4: Where Loyalties Lie (Rainbow Falls) · 9:14pm Jan 18th, 2014
I'm actually surprised that the writers decided to portray the Wonderbolts in a bit of a scummy light in this episode, though from the general tone of how it was portrayed, Spitfire and Fleetfoot didn't seem too set on it (you know, aside from the whole jibe about Dash picking to join the winners near the end), and it seemed like Soarin didn't seem to care (good old carefree Soarin). I'm even more surprised that the Wonderbolts of all ponies would resort to trying to poach a member from another team (even if that said member is really good).
Roid Rage/Heavyweight (I like this name the best)/Bulk Biceps is back, as is Derpy. I like both of the characters, and they're always a charm to see. I like how Heavyweight actually got speaking lines in this episode. And that flag pin! Another key unlocked. What does that make it so far? Two? I wonder how they'll put a spool and a flag into the locks. Maybe they'll conveniently turn into keys at the end.
Overall, I liked this episode. Simple stuff, something-something keys, and loyalty.
Tiberian Eclipse is currently on the way. 1.5k words in so far. Not much action this chapter, just discussion of events and buildup for the eventual arrival of the Scrin and reinforcements.
1.5k words? So... we're looking at another several month wait...?
And why do I still keep hoping for the return of Vanguard...?

I jest. The problem I had with my last story is that when you don't know what to write about, you're just kind of crawling along at a snail's pace as you snip in words here and there and try to weave them together.
I'm not having that problem with this chapter of TE, though. There's clear talking points for this chapter: pony power suits and Shining Armor's company being the candidates for them, the fate of Blueblood and his being volunteered into Shining's company, and the dragons and their connection to the Scrin.
As for Vanguard... well, that'd be a lot of work trying to reboot that, and even then, I don't even know what I would do with it.

1. Ooh!
2. ... oh.
It was the pin that was shining at the end, not the flag.
1732895 You're right. I guess I must have mistaken it for the moment of reveal (where the light was shining on the flag) and took that instead.
1732974 I thought it would be the flag too, at first. I'm glad it wasn't, because that would have been kinda lame.
I think Spitfire was being pragmatic, which I can understand. Fleetfoot is just a straight bitch.
Also, loads'a griffons, but no Gilda. Hopefully she appears later in the season, maybe in the Equestria Games arc.
