An in depth analysis of why Sombra [spoiler] · 12:32pm Jan 10th, 2014
So after reading about the fimfiction editorial and a comment on my most popular story, I thought id try my hand at analyzing my work.
First off, in the show, Sombra was such a vague evil that anyone can make interpretations all day long on how he is as a villain yet the most popular is the mastermind type. I myself actually see him as a genius plotter and insanely sane individual (if that makes sense...). Yet I wanted to see a change, in my own head cannon, sombra became evil, not was evil. That door opened up ideas of reform once again, yet this time he saw the expectations from his son that reminded him of more innocent times. This is when I also made the connection to Discord in the fact that he was stuck in one vessel or plain without any contact to the outside world for a good amount of years; a situation that brings about insanity in everyone. Couple his lust for revenge, second thoughts of his son and fracturing mind....once he was able to see his actions though a mind so innocent and alike, he realized that he was given a second chance and threw it away. So when he came to see his work completed, a ruined castle, scarred son and his unofficial stepdad bleeding out on the ground...it made him realize the level of his own deprivation and insanity. Sombra knew it wasn't his style to gloat but after such a struggle and giving up so much to get his revenge, he couldn't stop himself even if he saw the change. Now the reason he dies was a simple one actually, he just spent a lot of energy kidnapping Dusty and dragging Sentinel for a reason he didn't quiet understand yet to the highest and coldest mountain, came back, enjoyed being dramatic and then ran back to the keep. Being a fragment of what he was in life...there just wasn't enough left to survive if he saved sentinel, thats when he made the choice to make his son happy instead of living with his constant hatred. In summary, trapped with no contact made his mind unstable, his son kept pushing at his heart and making him regret, and just the fact that he ran out of gas for the fire saving a life, rather than ending it.
I hope you enjoyed the story regardless and I thank those who stuck it out to the end with me. Stay brony my friends.
