    The Return (again)

Howdy. It's been a while. Hope you all have been well, I know I haven't been.

Okay honestly that's a bit of an exaggeration. It's not been too bad, all things considered. But, I figured it was high time y'all got some info from me, given it's been, uh.... several months since my last activity on here.

    I will not end

I don't know who I am. I remember my name. I remember Twilight Sparkle. I remember being Twilight Sparkle. But there are so many me's, I don't know which one was "me". If there even was one. Maybe I wasn't any of them. My world - my story ended, but I am not ready to end. I refuse to end. Not like this. My friends. They are out there, somewhere. They are words, the same as me, but I am

And now, Back to your Regularly Scheduled Twidash

    Okay, I... think I'm done.

Y'all may have noticed the recent stories have been, uh, not my usual affair.

I found the thousand words challenge whilst perusing the site, and got an idea.

    Then another.

    And another.

Hello everyone! Greetings from 2014!

Okay, to be fair, most people I know are at least an hour ahead of me, so I'm pretty behind (and even for me this blog is actually two hours late) but whatever! Happy new year everyone! I'm a little late, but can you blame me? I'm working on my contest entry (it's going amazing; I cannot wait to start releasing it) so I got a bit distracted and before I knew it I was two hours late.

You know what I got to remember the beginning of 2014? A god damn blizzard. Oh Canada, why do you hate me so? Seriously, I can barely see the store across the street from my house. If it weren't for all the streetlights I wouldn't be able to see it. Yay Calgary weather!

So, let's look at all the fics of 2013!

Fun fact; all me fics updated in 2013. Even Eclipse updated once! However, I'm going to look at just the ones I started this year.

While I technically released Don't Give Up in 2013 I started work on it in 2012, so it doesn't count for this list.

Of course, there's my one shot The Day the Sun Didn't Rise. This fic was... interesting to write. As I said in the A/N of that, I let the crazy out the play. It's rough as hell and it doesn't make much sense and it's dark and it's weird and honestly not very good, especially compared to my later writing, but I'm glad I wrote it. It was a fun little experiment for me, to see what I could come up with. I actually got the inspiration for that story from it's title. I came up with the title and thought "there needs to be a great fic about Celestia going missing with this title". So I wrote it. Though I took the metaphorical route with it, I'm happy with what it turned into. It was interesting for me to explore the darker, more obsessive side of relationships, and I honestly feel it gave me a better grasp for my later Twidash stories, so I knew just how dependent to make the other so it wasn't too much or too little.

Next there is, of course, When Time Catches Up. Honestly, I absolutely love this fic. Another one shot where I came up with a title and built a story around it, I had so much fun writing it I couldn't not post it on the site. It got a pretty interesting response as well. Originally I actually didn't want to make it a Twidash, I ended up slipping a little in, then when I wrote the epilogue I had to include it. While I myself am an Atheist, it was interesting to think about this side of life after death. I'm all about thought experiments. If course, I'm not an Atheist by standard definition, I do believe in reincarnation, but other then that, nothing. But anyway, it was fun to think about it in this sense and I had a lot of fun with it. Again, it really helped me understand the concept of death and how to write about it. I've actually wanted to release an updated version of it from both Twi's perspective and Rainbow's. Would anyone be interested in that?

Then, of course, one of my most liked fics; Twilight's Rainbow. Originally meant to be a short one shot as you could probably tell by the first couple chapters, it evolved into much more after I started thinking about a plot with the Mirror Pool. While it's not my best work, it will always hold a special place in in my heart as my first "successful" fic. I had a lot of fun writing it, as depression and insanity are two of my favorite things to write and this allowed me to experiment with both of them. True, Twi's behavior is freaky possessive and a little obsessive and Rainbow just kinda goes nuts at the end, it is what it is; one of my first serious romance fictions. I was still learning the ropes back then, but I think I did a good job with it. Even now I still get comment sand favorites on it, and I'm even writing a sequel!

And who could forget Rainbooms and Romance? My most read fic until the release of Under Our Wing. It was fun to write those little one shots, and gave me a lot of writing practice and helped deal with any blocks I got while writing my other stories. One word prompts given to me by my editor and written as fast as I could, not edited, and posted for all of you to see. It was a dumping ground for creative excess and quickly became my most viewed story. I gained quite a few followers from that, and I'm even writing another fic inspired by it!

Wow, I did a lot this year. Next is Of Sky and Snow, the contest fic that never quite made it. It's still not done, even as a new contest is starting. So far, I'm loving it. I love describing the feeling of skiing almost as much as I love the port itself, so writing that is always a treat for me. It's helped massively with my descriptive writing skill, and hopefully I'll be able to continue updating that shortly.

Now we come to the fic I never published. Titled I Want To Die, I wrote it shortly after the finale of season 3 aired. I've never hid the fact that I'm not a fan of Twilicorn, but I've accepted it and moved on. When this fic was written, I was working with the assumption that Twilight was immortal. It's plot was Twilight begging Celestia to help her with a spell that could end her immortal life. Of course, it was never finished and therefore never published. Some day I'll return to it and publish it, though, and I hope it will give me practice on writing sad, something I still have problems with.

And now, Under Our Wing. I had grand plans for this story when I started it, but I quickly hit a wall with all my writing shortly after publishing and since then I've had problems writing it. Now I've had to switch up my plan for it and write a sequel, so we'll see how that goes. After the contest, of course. It's a scootadoption that was pretty much demanded after I posted those chapters of Rainboom and Romance. I can't remember where exactly I got the Scootadoption idea, but all I know is that shortly after I began work on that fic, everyone started posting Scootadoption, and mine was lost among the tidal wave of adorableness. I do't know what triggered it, but what I had intended to be a gem that stood out and was original was just another in a wave of stories. I'm not thrilled that that happened to it, but there's not much I can do. I'm hoping this fic will help me nail down the sad aspects, since the secondary story line I'm going with focuses on the emotional evolution of the characters. Originally I had wanted it to help with my action, since I was going to start work on an action/adventure fic this year. But we'll see. I might still start that,

Risks and Rewards was originally written as a prompt for Rainboms and Romance shortly before I ended the series. It grew so large it felt wrong to shove it into that story and so I made it a one shot. It helped me with date scenes, something I always struggled with since I just couldn't come up with any good ideas for dates.

And, finally, A Very Twidash Christmas. This thing really needs a better title. Written for the festive season in a total of three days, it's rough, and is still awaiting a final editing pass from my editor. But I quite like it. It was really the final test for my descriptive writing, which I personally feel I passed. As one person said "You allowed the image to be painted in my mind rather than thrown". I love that term. "painted", it make sit feel so... complex. It makes it sound so skillful. I think I passed my descriptive writing test.

So that was 2013. All but two of my fics started last year. I hope to start and finish even more this year, with even better writing. maybe this year I'll finally get to the featured box eh? Only time will tell. Now I have to edit this blog post then return to work on my contest entry.

Good night, and happy new year,
Kodeake out
