This may sound embarrassing to me, but here it goes... I have a crush on Sunset Shimmer. Yeah I know that sounds wired because she's a villain and all that, but she's just a beautiful human and pony.
Heck about even you guys may have certain crush on somepony. And actually I plan to have a story where my OC his friends Shadow Rush (Theinvertedshadow), Shadow Dash (ShadowDash1823), Gonzo (Mindlessgonzo), and Epickitty (Epickitty54) arrive in the Crystal Empire, meet the Mane Six, Princess Celestia and Cadence, and Sunset Shimmer. But with a twist to the ending of Equestria Girls and don't want to ruin every surprise in this new story.

I'm gonna shy away from the topic of you having a crush. I'll admit it seems... odd, but to each his own, I suppose.
However when you said, "Even you guys may have a crush on somepony,"... Yeah, no. I could never see ponies as attractive. I don't think I could even see people who aren't photo realistic as attractive enough to have a crush on. I'll admit if Twilight were a real person, I'd be very attracted to her personality, but if she was not human, or IRL for that matter, there is no way. Sorry to be a bastard on that one.

1619099 Though, Jason Fowler's comments got me thinking in different perspectives. When you said you had a crush on sunset shimmer, i took it for you saying she's one of your favorite characters.
However if you we're being literal, and you have an actual crush on her, I still say I don't have a problem with that. I mean look where we are right now. A website dedicated to stories about the MLP universe and a safe haven for bronies to write thousand upon thousands of stories based on their favorite show.
I myself am technically not a brony. The only episodes of FIM I have watched were on youtube and we're only watched to gather information on the characters, such as how they talk, how they act, and etc. I just find the MLP universe interesting when it comes to fictional stories. If I we're given an option to watch MLP and the history channel, I would pick the history channel hands down.
The whole concept of the MLP universe is intriguing to say the least but there are a fews thing about it that absolutely infuriate me WHICH I will refrain from saying exactly what they are.
Ahem...so yeah, I'm not a brony, but that doesn't mean i can't prefer an MLP character over the other. Such as Twilight. I am generally neutral to her and sometimes dislike some of the stories about her (regardless of how bad a story is, i always give a thumbs up). Nightmare Moon on the other hand I have taken a liking to (not liking as showing affecting, liking as in just preference). She has a nice character build overall and most of the times makes for a nice read.

While that is true, you're missing the point. There aren't male alicorns. Thats proven by the existence of Shining Armor and Blueblood. They are both princes and yet neither are alicorns. This says two things.
1. As far as we know, male alicorns don't exist.
And more importantly
2. Making a character an alicorn is not necessary to have a cool character.
In fact, usually if a character is an alicorn, it gives them the death sentence for having fans. I've yet to see one fan made alicorn that people actually liked. In fact, I'd hate to hit below the belt with this, but the main reason your previous story got downvoted so much was because you made a completely flat character (Ice Lance) and did absolutely no development on his character other than saying that he was the emperor of Equestria and that he had all sorts of godlike powers. That doesn't make people think that he's a cool character. Frankly, it makes people judge him as a bad OC off the bat.
1619399 Well like I said. there are some things I don't particularly don't like about the mlp universe (you don't know how hard it is right now for me to resist to go on an angry, 5,000 word long monologe about the things I hate about the mlp universe) which led to some dislikes towards specific character.
I always liked the dark/evil characters cause they always carry an essence of 'badass' around them. So that's another reason why I like nightmare moon. Saying that, you can safely assume I have a mutual like towards sunset shimmer as well the other 'bad guys'.
What I gotta say? The dark side is just so good.

1619456 Truth be told. I always had like for the antagonists to begin with. The video games I've played, i liked them better for a lot of reasons.
One, they have epic looking armor or generally just look badass. Two, they have all the neat and epic abilities and stuff that makes my character, the protagonist, feel like 2 inches tall. Three, I like it when the bad guys win but obviously that doesn't happen in video games. Four, they're are just plain badass (most of the time), and the list keeps going on.

So don't make him an alicorn. Just develop him as a character. What does he like? What does he hate? What is he afraid of? What weaknesses does he bear? What obstacles does he have to overcome? If you don't include these with a few, smaller badass characteristics, then he is a character who has no depth.
