So when I was around nine years old, I had the pleasure of stumbling upon my all-time favorite online game, Toontown. I know Toontown may not be the most amazing MMORPG in terms of consistent content and such, but it was a wonderful part of my childhood that carried immense sentimental value. You can imagine, then, my shock and horror when I discovered that Toontown would be closing in September. At first I thought it was a prank, but sure enough, I logged on one day to throw some pies and shit, and Toontown was no more.
HOWEVER: I was extremely excited to find that a group of developers was in the process of recreating Toontown from the ground up, exactly as it had been before. In need of alpha testers, the developers sent out a call, asking associated websites to hold contests, the winners of which would receive alpha keys for the game.
As you can imagine, I jumped the moment I saw a writing competition and cranked out a very short story in about a half hour. I looked back, edited it, posted it, and waited. The results were posted this afternoon, and I unfortunately didn't make the cut.
Now believe me when I say I have no issue with being defeated by a worthy opponent. Nevertheless, when I'm defeated by this:
You may understand why I was a little frustrated.
It's all well and to the good, though, because it leaves me with time to continue working on a project. You guys may not have much faith in me considering my lack of content lately, but believe me when I say this latest project will be worth the wait. Anyone remember my best friend and long time editor, Jordan? He and I have spent many an hour over the last few days discussing a project that's been a long time coming, something that some of you have been asking about for quite a while. While I don't want to give away many details at the moment, I will let you guys know four things:
1) Plot development is complete
2) Writing has commenced
3) It involves Pinkie
4) The working (probably permanent title) is Eversion.
What is it? What does it mean? Is it a double rainbow? Probably all three or something. I've been able to get quite a lot of work done on it even with school and 40 hours of work a week kicking my ass, and so a lot more is going to be done throughout Christmas break. When is it coming out? I have absolutely no clue. There's editing, submissions to EqD and inevitable rejections, all that shit. But it's the only project I'm working on for a reason, and it is coming. It's been almost two years in the making, so I don't want nothing but the best.
