It's a Sad Day · 5:38am Dec 3rd, 2013
Hello people who follow me. I know you're out there, waiting for another update on one of my numerous un-finished stories. Well, the update that was planned for today but was thrown off because of last week's chapter being thrown of will be delayed until tomorrow. Just tomorrow, though, so I'm close to back on schedule after that delay.
But that's not what this blog is about. This is an actual blog.
It's about people leaving.
I recently went through my favorites to check and see if any of the authors of long un-updated fics had posted a blog or cancelled them officially or anything. What I found was even worse.
I found writers who have left either writing, the site, or the fandom entirely. Spread across a large number of stories that I am a fan of.
Take, for example, TAW. I was never a real fan, but his/her Wind Beneath her Wings is not only one of my favorite stories, but one of the greatest Twidash's I have ever read, and, in fact, the very first Twidash I ever read. It is what got me hooked on the incredibly adorable pair. Until then I hadn't even read shipping before, so the very first experience I had with the genre was not only Twidash, but a clop fic as well. I was... interested in this side of the fandom. Until then I'd only read the odd fic on EQD (Past Sins being one of them, along with "A World Without Rainbooms" and "Irreplaceable", if any of you remember those) so I was very suddenly thrust straight into the heart of this community. It was... jarring, but I quickly adapted and found a place for myself in Twidash.
Of course, TAW is not the only one. Neon Eclipse, who writes what is possibly the most adorable piece of Twidash ever, "Winter's Warmth", has been gone for months now. And they aren't the only ones.
It saddens me to see these great authors with great stories disappear without a trace. TAW made a blog post about going on a hiatus until further notice, but some others have simply disappeared off the face of the planet. Unfinished and beloved fics simply abandoned.
I wish to make a promise, here and now. Should I ever, for any reason, wish to leave the fandom or just the fanficiton community, I will finish my fics first. If it is the mot painful experience of my life. If I have to force out one word at a time, all the while restraining screams of horror, I will finish those fics. As long as there are people on this site that read my work, any and all fics will be finished, one day or another. I will not leave work unfinished; I'd never put my readers through that.
And I will not leave without saying I'm leaving. I think what saddens me the most is that these people never said they were leaving, they just up and left. Sure, maybe it was out of their control; maybe their computer died and they can't fix it. Or maybe something completely explainable happened and for whatever reason they couldn't even put up a blog post or alter their bio to say that they're gone. But I doubt that. I don't think there's anything that would keep you away for almost a year, unless they actually did die.
But anyway, it's just sad to see people leave, especially if they have unfinished work. It's something that's always bugged me, so I wanted to make this promise to you guys. I will not abandon any of you or my stories; it simply will not happen.
The next chapter for Of Sky and Snow will be out tomorrow.
Until then,
Kodeake out
this actually made me cry a little. not sad cry, cry with joy. joy that someone has finally stepped up and made the ultimate promise (in my mind, at least).
Today has been a very introspective day for me. So this was a perfect blog post for my mood.
That is good to see
And I see you and I have something in common, Wind Beneath Her Wings, my first story on this site, and first TwiDash aswell, I was devastated when I got to know that it won't be finished, most likely...
I hate it when such amazing stories are just... left out...
By the way, I'm pretty certain that you have read it, who hasn't, but if you didn't, try Flying High, Falling Hard, another AMAZING TwiDash, tied together with Wind Beneath her Wings for best TwiDash in existence on my list.
Ugh, wrote too much, as usual... well, I hope you have a good day
Take a lesson people. This is dedication. You sir are a true writer!
