A Facebook Rant

Below is a rant posted on Facebook when a few friends of mine insisted on making bad insults at MLP.

I always grin a little when people try and utterly fail to make me feel bad about something I enjoy, case in point, MLP. "You like My Little Pony?" wow, nice insult there, humanity. You struck a low blow, mentioning something that I am completely aware of. I actual enjoy it when people make crappy insults, as it assures me that my rapidly decreasing faith in humanity is not a lie.

I would like to know, however, what drives you haters to hate? Is it because you feel better about yourselves, because you have manged to do nothing to change the ever increasing wave of love and tolerance that the bronies stand for? Is it because you fail to realize that there are things that you don't like, and since you obviously are the only person whose opinion matters, must speak out and remove the hindrance?

What do you accomplish by stubbornly refusing to accept that maybe, MAYBE there are non-mainstream things out there that are good. Is the only reason you decided that MLP is bad because you mindlessly followed the crowd, allowing yourself to be dragged down by what other people say is and isn't right?

Look at this logically. Have you heard of any other little girls show amassing huge amounts of dedicated followers? The answer is no. SO, there must be a reason that MLP SPECIFICALLY has gathered so many watchers that aren't the intended age group.

The reason is that it was made by someone who wanted to make this show into something that could be enjoyed by everyone. Lauren Faust snuck in adult references and jokes that go over kids heads, and allow adults good humor too. But the non-adult only humor is also good, perhaps even better.

The characters have depth, too. All of the main six have more personality than, "I like dresses and pink things." Each of them has a reasoning behind what they do, and distinct and unique features about them that make the characters more lovable. They are not shallow dip-shits walking around with their thumbs up their asses.

So, lets sum this up. Your all being bigots, there is (gasp) a reason MLP is good, and the fandom is awesome. Correct summary so far.

Oh wait, I just realized I'm not done yet. Everyone insists that stereotypes are wrong, and I know that you believe this as well. Unless your a despicable waste of air. Either way, you continue to spout out that every single one of us bronies are homosexual. No pre-determined opinions here, nope. OPEN YOUR MINDS. Allow yourself to believe that something stated by every other stupid follower of the crowd says is bad might not be bad. At the very least, think of something cunning to insult us with before you heap every little piece un original insult that your pathetic mind can conjure up.
