The Document of Pony Gear Solid: In Which Posh Draws His Own Fanart · 5:36pm Apr 25th, 2012
Well, it's less fanart, and more of a crude diagram that I drew for my own reference. Have I mentioned lately that I hate the Castle of the Two Sisters for being incomprehensible?
I was going to post it in my private notes for the story, but decided instead to post it publicly, both as a reminder that I'm still working on the story, and as a reference for any readers who are confused by my weaksauce attempts at creating a logical setting for the next chapter.
The important areas are all labeled, except for the large green circle on the right, because spoiler alert. First up is the gatehouse, where the Mane Six discovered the Elements in the first episode, which Pegasus Wings now uses as storage space. The gatehouse leads into what was once the palace garden, which has been converted into a heliport. The garden is fenced off from the rest of the castle, because otherwise, there'd be no reason for Snake and co. to obsess over how to get into the keep. They could just run straight on past it, sentries be damned. Note how there is what appears to be another wall outside of the line representing the fence. This is called an "error." Errors are usually removed before pictures are posted. However, Posh derped, and so it's there. My Little Non-Canon Garden Wall: Errors are Celebrated.
At the upper left of the garden is the arch where the sniper lay waiting for them, and past that arch is the keep. Applebloom is held in the dungeon, the base floor is where the great hall is located (this is where Nightmare Moon was defeated in the first episode), and the upper floors contain... rooms... where things transpire. Can you tell that I didn't put too much thought into this? I hope I didn't make it too obvious.
The door in the great hall, which I alluded to in an earlier blog, leads out into the castle's main courtyard. The weird L-shaped lines you see are various ruined structures, mostly stony wall fragments that make for convenient cover from sentries. Pegasus Wings used this space primarily as parking for their ground vehicles. The giant green circle represents a ring of surprisingly well preserved arches, which border a wide, deep pit, within which rests a spoiler. At the top of the courtyard is the portcullis, which is flanked by two turrets (if you're wondering why the wall has only two turrets, then let me assure you it's only because I forgot to draw more). There are two portculliseseseses: one facing the Everfree Forest on the outside of the wall, and one facing the courtyard. Snake will have to find a way to bypass both if he intends to reach the staging area in time to destroy Metal Gear.
I hope you enjoyed reading about this picture infinitely more than you enjoyed looking at it, because it is depressingly simple and dumb. If anybody wants to point out how my layout doesn't make sense/doesn't work/needs to be completely revised, please do so. Hopefully, it isn't too late to change something without creating a continuity conflict with the previous chapter.
Deep wide pit, within which rests a spoiler?
Only two possibilities come to mind: the Equestria end of the portal facility, where Pegasus Wings THOUGHT Snake should have come in through.... or...
Metal Gear?!

it's time to lay your sleepy head
I can't help noticing that my diagram looks suspiciously like female reproductive anatomy.
What does that say about me?
