To all who have just had their fanfictional worlds rocked by something in the finale, be it the unexplained presence of additional alicorns, Twilight's parents still being alive, or Lyra speaking, remember: Every story is a deviation from canon. How much it deviates is entirely up to you. In short:

EDIT: I just realized that I accidentally struck canon with Lyra's rants about dopplegangers in Elements of Harmony. Just goes to show that this sort of thing cuts both ways.
