    Merry Christmas, all!

My track record with Christmas releases is no longer perfect, but I do try! Only one 5k chapter of Sharing the Nation this year, though I'm hoping to have 5k more out before the new year. To make up for it, though, I've also brought out the Harry Potter crossover that's been languishing in

    Nothing this year, sorry

Man, this has been… a year. Shortly after my last blog post, I had some (non-covid) medical issues that somewhat took over my life for a while, and while that's all in the past now, I'm only back where I was beforehand—completely unproductive. I was determined to get back into things at NaNoWriMo, but work steamrolled those plans and I just haven't been able to find the words to write something

More burned out than I thought

Jeeze, it's been four months since I decided not to force myself to generate updates for the sake of Patreon and gave myself the freedom to write whatever I wanted… but I haven't really written anything. I've done a thousand words or so here and there to play around with other fandoms, but nothing of significance.

    Shocking, I know.

Tis the season for status updates. Not as much the other kind of updates as I would like, though

It wouldn't be Christmas if I hadn't been completely incommunicado for at least a month or two beforehand, right?

Unfortunately, I don't have chapters of Sharing the Nation to post for Christmas this year. I do have some Equal Opportunity Ascension chapters that only Patreon has seen, and I'll post those, I guess, but it's clear this… isn't working.

    Christmas Updates!

    Merry Christmas!

As I've done every year since I started writing, I have updates here for you on Christmas day.

( It might look like there's a missing one, but the chapter for Sharing the Night that year was taken down and reposted)

I am so tempted... · 10:46am Apr 15th, 2012

I am so tempted to use lavender unicorn syndrome in dialogue and see if anyone notices, you have no idea.

That is all.

I see no problem with lavender unicorn syndrome. Or maybe I'm missing something.

Me either, honestly, I just think it would be incredibly funny to have Twilight say "Thank you orange earth pony." or something similar in dialogue. That's the one place it definitely doesn't belong :twilightoops:

I may be a teeny bit sleep deprived right now but on the bright side Sharing the Night Ch. 4 is entering editing with about 10500 words. My editing process is as follows: Read the chapter and make any necessary changes. Read the chapter again and make any necessary changes. Read the chapter on my kindle and make any necessary changes. Upload to FimFiction.net, read the chapter and make any necessary changes.

I'm dead serious. :pinkiecrazy:

im not quite following on what you're talking about

"Lavender Unicorn Syndrome" is some people's derogatory term for the necessity to use creative terms in prose to refer to characters as an intermediate option between the repetitiveness of using names constantly and the vagueness of using regular pronouns like "she". I suppose the complaint is that constantly referring to Twilight as a "Lavender Unicorn" gets just as repetitive if that's all you use.

No matter what your opinion on the matter though, terms like "lavender unicorn" have no place in dialogue because the characters themselves would never use those words. :unsuresweetie:

ah, thanks for explaining, i guess it would be pretty funny to use that in a dialogue, maybe have pinkie say something in a 'forth-wall' comedy would work! :pinkiehappy:

It would depend on who uses it. If Twilight used it, for example, I would notice immediately. But if Derpy said it, I might not.

71317 I am constantly sleep deprived because I will start reading fanfics and not want to stop. You are part of the problem!:derpytongue2: Awesome editing process btw.
