Sunflower: next chapter NOT delayed, plus a (hopefully) fun bonus! · 2:02am Apr 15th, 2012
Hi there!
Well, this chapter's another doozy, clocking in a little under 7k words. I'm going to let it sit for the night, and then edit and publish it tomorrow. (Honestly, I need a break, my eyes are swimming). So, yay, back on schedule!
As a sort of apology for missing last Sunday, I thought that it might be kind of neat to share my pictures of the ponies with you. All of these were made with GeneralZoi's Pony Creator, as I have no art skills of my own to speak of. These are primarily just a reference guides for me, it never occurred to me to share them before.
So, here we go!
My original pic of Sunflower, which used to be the cover image of this story before Easteu made the current incredible cover art, which is a vast improvement over my picture, I think we can all agree! Still, I'm including it because... well, why not? I know I've picked up a few readers since I switched the cover image, so here's the original for you!
Here's Lime Swirl, the first pony Sunflower meets in Ponyville, a receptionist at Town Hall:
I never did figure out a cutie mark for her, but that was okay, since she was really only intended to be a one-time character who spent most of her time behind a desk. She's an older earth pony mare, thus the grey streaks in her mane and tail and being slightly more heavyset than normal.
Here's Meadowlark:
She's not smiling, kind of as a mental reminder to me that she's a very serious minded pony. She usually has her mane tied back in a bun when she's working, but I couldn't find a mane-style that really fit on the pony creator. This mane style gets close enough to how I feel she looks, so I kept it. Fun fact: I sampled those colors directly from an actual picture of a Meadowlark!
Adorable little Marigold, here:
Which I've already posted in the comments. Her serious facial expression goes to show that she's inherited her mom's serious attitude.
Mr. Speedy Parcel:
He looks a little manic, here, but that's okay. He's a little manic in the story, as well (or, at least, I intended him to be!)
Oh, and I couldn't find a decent graphic for a cutie mark, so imagine he's got a flaming parcel on his flank.
You know you've been wondering. So here he is, Quick Sale!
Note the leer. Also, note that he's the only pony that seems to be staring at you. That's because he's a bit of a pervy pony. He thinks impure thoughts at you.
Originally, I was going to have a much larger role for him, but I decided that it distracted too much from the main storyline, so he got cut. All but his first appearance, which I left in because I thought it was funny, and it also established the fact that, whatever Erin thinks she is, everyone around her thinks she's a pony. I know, he looks a little bit like Diamond Tiara's dad, Filthy Rich. I can only assure you that's a coincidence. Or, maybe he's a distant cousin. Who knows?
Now that I've done this, I'm just curious... is anyone interested in future blog posts (not just for this story, but going forward) that contain my pony-creator made pony pictures of my OCs? If so, I'll keep doing it.
Anyway, like I said, new update tomorrow, once I've edited and cleaned it up.
As always, thanks for reading, and have a great weekend!

I like quick sale. He one smooth pony!
I better go read the earlier chapters again! I always though Erin looked like this:

Nah, that was the early pre-beta character design I used!
Just had a thought, though... what if they'd actually sent her in looking like that?
