So, some of you may remember--before there was losing my job and before there was eight months of silence... I once disappeared for like... a couple of weeks due to computer problems and people thought I'd died or something.
If you can't guess where this is going, you probably didn't notice I actually used two regular dashes in the first sentence instead of my trademark em-dash.
So yeah, this is a thing. Again. I have the worst luck.
Ironically, it could be either good or bad for my writing since I have a tablet and bluetooth keyboard now, which I didn't back then. They aren't the best tools for writing, but they also contain fewer distractions... except for fimfiction, of course.
Seriously though. What the hell, technology? What did I ever do to you?
Edit: Turned out to only be a dead power supply, so things are back up and running now with minimal difficulty. Much better than last time, when I had to build a whole new computer from the board up.
I know that feel. I have the worst luck with power cords, they break like once ever six months at least.
"You used me! Every time you thought there was someone better you'd toss me aside like an unwanted whore!"
But yeah, this sucks. Don't want this to come out the wrong way, but hopefully this results in more Sharing the Night progress.
If it would help, I can show you how to get a nice (secure, automatic) backup solution with Duplicati or Tarsnap running... (And if you choose Duplicati, I can loan you a TB or so of backup space via SFTP - Tarsnap only works with the Tarsnap servers, which are admittedly cheaper than Amazon S3)

That's quite alright. I have plenty of local storage for backups, and I do all of my writing on google docs anyway.

Fair enough. I've just learned the hard way that backups on a local machine (or even in the same building) are hardly backups at all. Google Docs is fairly robust and a lot less likely to eat a document than a standard HDD, but it does still happen.
Also glad to hear it was "just" a dead PSU - at least they are cheap to replace, when they don't decide to take your computer with them. (flames, power spike, etc)
Just whatever you do, keep on writing!
I was looking to see if there was any Sharing-inspired art, and voila! Pretty dang awesome. I think it's pretty old now, but I thought you might want to see it if you hadn't already.
