I'm glad! Okay, let's move on: I gotta tell ya, I never expected "Captain Falcolt" to get this much attention, even if it's a relatively small amount. I'm glad I could fulfill my first, invisible goal of getting over 100 views on one story, and this one hasn't even gotten started!
Well, I guess that's technically a lie. It has, of course, gotten started. Otherwise we wouldn't be talking about it right now, or I wouldn't be talking at you about it, anyway.
Man, I forgot what this blog was for. Why does that keep happening? Something about... Oh! Okay, so a few things:
1. Thanks to you guys for getting me on the popular stories list for the day (Sept 12th, 2013). You rock 20% harder than those who haven't read the story.
2. This won't be a long story; I hope to have it wrapped up in a few weeks time at most. Maybe two or three more chapters of about 5k words each.
3. "Captain Falcolt" has nothing to do with "Prelude to Disaster" or the story that will follow it. In the same vein, for those who care to know, I'm still struggling to finish "Prelude" because I can't effing figure out Luna's narrative voice. And even if I get that down, I'll have to fight with that Old English dribble she does. Argh!
Should be done soon though.
4. I got some Cap'n Crunch the other day. Great cereal.
5. I'm sorta-kinda looking for prereaders and editors n' whatnot, so if you're interested in that kinda thing, drop me a line. I do the best I can on my own, but the best I can is not very good, so...

3) This is all headcanon, of course, but I think you could easily carve out a voice similar to that I use in my own Princess Luna Picks Up Hitchhikers: just stiff and stilted enough to be notable, without overly focusing on its archaism. (Secret pro tip: The majority of her narrative voice there is achieved by avoiding contractions, with a few unusual sentence constructions thrown in and an avoidance of modern slang.) Given that you're setting the story in post-Season 3 Equestria, canon Luna has already adapted her language to shake the worst of her excesses.

I just finished Princess Luna Picks Up Hitchhikers, and it was great! You even managed to capture that Old English thing she does. I was trying to do the same in my first and second drafts of "Prelude" part 2, but I don't know nearly enough about the language of the period to make it believable.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I could sure use your help. Would you... Do a bit of editing for me when I finish it?

I have to be realistic: I don't know if I can commit to any editing; I've got a few folks waiting on me already, and I'm trying to push a few overdue stories of my own out the door before the end of the month. All I can promise is, I'll see what I can do if you drop me a line when it's ready. I might be able to signal-boost your need for good editors a bit. I think you're already working at a level where you'll want someone able to help you on the higher-level stuff.
